Galactic Empire Cloning Stormtroopers in Lego Factory
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 1:40 AM on June 20, 2008
If you ever wondered where the Galactic Empire gets all those stormtroopers, look no further than the Lego factory in Denmark: here's an exclusive video about how the iconic mini-figure gets its characteristic evil look after getting out of the mold machine. The printing of these mini-figs is one of the most expensive and delicate processes at the Lego factory. The rubber stamping has to be done in a very precise way—printing feature by feature in layers—until it's done. [Giz's Lego Trip]

This is amazing! I grew up with Lego, now I design automated factory machinery, *exactly* like what's on the video. Vibrating bowls, pick & place, turntables, stamps, conveyors, the works. But my eyes have been opened! My job could involve *Lego*! I could request boxes and boxes of sample parts, for "testing" purposes. I gotta get the contact details of the factory purchasing manager...

Ok, this is too cool, love the music, it looks like they are banged so hard when they are hit with the paint stamp, its quite fitting! Can't wait to see a tons of other articles with video that I'm sure Jesus is writing soon, still in shock from LEGO overload!
@ps61318:
You are right, but I'd take the bag away, and let a huge pile form and make a "LEGO" snow angel. Even with my 1000+ minifigs its still not enough to make a proper LEGO snow angel and I have to worry about them falling apart. Now these Storm Trooper heads would be perfect to do that in, because the are mostly white, oh now I'm so excited at the thought!
@themediaguy:
Yes, they should. But its hard, cause I'm blonde, and to my knowledge they've only produced one blonde minifig ever in the SW Rogue Shadow of Juno Eclipse and her hair was up in a pony tail, and I like the new sexy hair-style that Agent Trace (the girl) has in the new Agents sets, but they'd have to do it blonde just for me! But I would be eternally grateful!
@FredicvsMaximvs:
If you did that I'd being all of you back a minifig. And tons of video!

@LindsayJoy's MBP is into S+M:
One blonde minifig? Hardly. There's classic male hair, classic female hair, ponytail hair, pompadour hair, Dumbledore hair, and Harry Potter hair, all in tan. Granted, it skews heavily towards males (then again, so does the minifig population of the world), and Trace's hair is still, regrettably, a one-color part (in black it'd be perfect for Talia al Ghul), but there are certainly options besides the ponytail, and more affordable ways to get that one should you choose it.
Additionally, Brickforge has tan Hero Hair in stock.

@Git Em SteveDave has a crush on the Swedes: And none of them will be from me. I can paint houses, toenails, and birdhouses, but nothing else as I've been cursed with MacGyver Syndrome. My works of art all include pieces of duct tape, wire, and were assembled using improvised tools such as mufflers, bones, and other assorted things. But I have no doubt the talented folks amongst your following could accomplish such a Lego piece in short time.
