Foxconn Rolls Out the Latest Pico Projector Prototype
Posted by Adrian Covert at 10:16 AM on June 5, 2008

Foxconn rolled out another handheld Pico Projector device at Computex this week, packing a 76mm Texas Instruments DLP chip and 854x480 resolution into a small package roughly the size of a matchbox (just 65 grams). Though Pico Projectors have been supported by many heavyweights such as 3M, Texas Instruments and Motorola, the technology has yet to make an appearance in the consumer market. But more prototypes from different companies can't be a bad thing, right? [Aving via About Projectors]

@suckacheese: I was kinda thinking it will get small enough that it will just be a part of your phone... or laptop or... anything really. You wanna show a room full of people what's on your laptop, point it at a white surface. You wanna show someone a couple ppt slides, pull out your phone, and point it at the wall.... Seems kinda pointless in a "hey look what I can do" kind of way, but still, cool as hell in my book.

@radikaled: Yeah, it would equal roughly half of California's emissions during a Tuesday morning rush hour.

Any idea on what the interface for this would be? I'm hoping USB so I can use it on my WinMo . . .

All gadget-kind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those that make no logistica sense what so ever

How do they have the time to make anything other than the 3G iPhone?

@djdare: i think that is motorola's plan, but with reduced size, you get reduced features.

I'm thinking it could really save monitor costs if it's clear and laser-based. You could just have an expandable sheet of textile to replace your screen because it would already be lit.

it has a cool factor for the UMPC market, i would think. but there have to be battery issues if you're talking about phones, i would think.
and i think it would have to be a small room full of people you are showing it to.

It should be on the eee PC yah..it will be so cool. A compact system..
What eee PC can also do is..they get rid of the screen, put this at the side and then we get an ultra slim eee PC! with just keyboard... it will be so cool.
