First Pic of Asus Eee All-In-One, New Eee Coming
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 12:45 AM on June 6, 2008
The image is kind of blurry, but I have to admit that the upcoming US$500 Eee Monitor—Asus' all-in-one PC that will be available with 19- and 21-inch displays—looks simple, elegant, and rather pretty. Mark says that they are clearly following Apple and Nintendo's—who follows the first—designs, and that's not a bad thing. I agree, even when the iPod-look will eventually become the new beige. Asus has also announced two new products for September and December—named "Eee S1" and "Eee K1"—although nobody knows what they would be. But has this ever been a problem for our animal guts-reading powers? Thor says NO!

And thats a mac clone because?.... I swear I have seen all in one PCs from Gateway much before the iMac (in its current form) was released.

Not saying that they started this trend. Someone else could have. Wasn't there an IBM pc where there was a stand in the back to prop up your CPU :)
The one I saw at that time looked sleeker and Apple had the iMacG4 at that time.

@Buzzed: buzzed apparently has never bought anything ever, and thus hasnt noticed original products happen about every 15 years.

If I were shopping for a PC, I would rather have a Mac knock-off than the 'original designs' of Dell or HP's clunky machines.
Then again... I'd rather just have the Mac, so this opinion may be slightly biased.

If it has a touch screen, I'll take two please. Mount that puppy on a wall and run it as linux gui terminal into the home server.
I could pull up a camera feed from the front door, recipes, schedules, photos, music...etc. One upstairs and one downstairs. Sweet!

I thought I wanted an EeeBox but this is what I really want - a web terminal for the kitchen or the living room. This looks like this can fulfill the dream of the 3com Audrey.
I totally agree with shawn_dude, a touch screen would be amazing but I'll take one without it too.

It's an all-in-one PC that will most likely ship with some flavor of Linux, so it's unoriginal? Just because Apple makes an all-in-one Mac that uses an LCD, everyone else that creates an all-in-one with an LCD is a copycat? I just don't get it... Some people want to rain on others parades just to do it, I suppose.
So where are Apples Budget-Minded Notebooks/Desktops? Oh that's right, they don't make anything of the sort.
Honestly, I'd be very interested in one of these. I don't need a DVD writer out of the box, nor do I need ridiculous amounts of memory and such. $500 sounds pretty nice to me :)
