Why does everybody say downloading is the way of the future?

Also, I found it amusing that in the firt paragraph you wrote "That leaves BigPond, which unless you're prepared to pay for Telstra's exorbitant broadband fees, just isn't worth the money." yet on this page, four of the five ads were for BigtPOnd. The fifth was for Foxtel IQ2 which is co-owned by Telstra.

The internet is relatively new technology and with every new technology hair-brain business ideas pop up, but this one more than most has persisted the longest like the lingering odor of a rotting carcass. It’s a badly formed and naive concept and completely misunderstands the nature of the movie rental markets current incompatibility with the internet. It will succeed the day the internet can offer the same retail experience traditional rental outlets do, and that is not now or anytime in the near future.

What’s wrong with .torrents eh? Maybe ISP’s should pay a bit of a royalty to the movies that get downloaded, and factor that into the cost of broadband, but this is the best method of distribution! Don’t fight it, embrace it!

Biglake is not only expensive, but there is nothing worth downloading. How are people expected to embrace legal downloading technology when they offer you 1970’s re-runs? Idiots.

I’ll believe that when I see it. Your first line said it all – Broadband and these types of services SUCK in this country. Unfortunately, I don’t see it changing in the near future either – PERIOD.
