This is so stupid - for only $900 more you can get a REAL HD camera from Sony that uses proprietary technology to transport the content. Screw this.

Ah, nothing like a good ol' double post in the morning to ruin a good sarcastic comment.
Hmmm, getting close to the functionality and price range for an everyday recorder. But, yes, I would still rather have the $900 more real HD recorder.

Dag. I just bought the Flip and in addition to wanting the SD cards, the increased resolution could help offset the degradation caused by that I have to apply filters to any indoor shots to make them look decent.
I must say, I'm getting 100 times more video of my daughter than I would have with a regular camcorder.

I too, just snagged a Flip and might even be within the return period. I'd love to see a side-by-side with these guys because the price difference is negligible.

@Jaleeb Caru:
Hehe, i was slightly disappointed when i read this article too as i recently grabbed a Flip Ultra, but while it certainly looks better, i have a pretty good feeling the Flip would still come out on top in a comparo.

Sounds like it uses Micron's 5Mpixel sensor. That uses 2.2um pixels and supports binning (combining of multiple pixels to create a smaller image with higher effective sensitivity).
Unless they've messed up the back end processing, or been too cheap with the lens, this camera probably performs pretty well for the price. Just don't expect it to compete with a higher-end camcorder.

I'd like to see a side by side as well, I'm thinking of getting one of these style camera's for fun and wouldn't mind seeing the battle-modo before making a purchase

The guys over at Rootclip.com should put these in their prize packs. This seems much better than the Flip to me.
All these cheapo HD cameras have really gotten my attention, but I'm just afraid I don't really have enough place to store the videos. I guess I could make DVDs, not really sure what I'd do though.

Wow 720p. Not bad. I could see some uses for this thing.
The price is decent at ~$130.
