Digitable: Your DVD Collection Adds to the Decor
Posted by Sean Fallon at 9:20 AM on June 3, 2008
The Digitable coffee table was designed by Peter Lea as a functional piece of furniture that can play your CDs / DVDs while maintaining a cool contemporary look. It also features a sleek control panel integrated right into the frame and a disc storage carousel located in the base of the table. Let's face it, large disc collections can be hard to maintain, and they become an eyesore if stored out in the open. However, placing your discs within this coffee table would actually add to the decor—so your wife won't feel the need to defile your collection. Unfortunately, the design is only a concept at the moment. [Peter Lea via BornRich]

@ripfire4: If you read the full product description, you'll see that it's actually activated by pounding on the top of it and saying AAAAaaaaaayyyyyy!! while extending both thumbs. Pretty ingenious

THat would be pretty swinging if I didn't already have an iPod with all my bloody music on it and sexy ass speakers that I just have to plug them into...You know it looks vaguely like a heat sync.

@VakeroRokero: honestly, i wish Gizmodo would let you edit your own comment within say 10 seconds of posting it. it would help me with alot of typos from trying to speed type.

does one have to play russian roulette when selecting a DVD/CD, or do I have do bend down on my hands and knees to see the labels?
Lose/Lose situation if you ask me. Unless it's filled with porn. In that case, I would most likely go in sequential order

So.. It's kinda like a jukebox, except you still have to pick up your DVD and put it in a player.

Sean, your wife would kill you if you brought this home. Make a note, 'Married men DO NOT get to pick the furniture'. What you need is an 'Office', than you can have it.

10 years too late to the party! Can achieve this and more just plugging my iPod Touch into my stereo. Cheaper and clutter free!

Would have to be about three levels higher to hold my dvd collection. Too bad they're all in slimline cd cases now and in a filing cabinet.

Physical media. How...quaint.
Call me when this is a 50TB RAID and I'll be interested.

How silly. If it breaks, I'd have to worry about taking in an entire table for repair. *rolls eyes*

In no way can this compare to my Santa Claus tissue holder box that now contains all my (or my surviving) CD's.

You see, this is why I want a media room with a GINORMO! screen and cooltastic sound system. No pesky, annoying, irritating women who can't shut their mouths or keep their hands off my stuff...my um, not private stuff, jut my stuff that I like but doesn't define me. Touch my private stuff all you want hot ladies.

@ganyapr:
That's what I thought it was also. The glass on top would mess up any heat disapation.

I can totally see this table cluttered with beer, cigarette butts, ash, empty slurpee cups, and other illegal unmentionables.
I want one lol
