Dealzmodo: Free Sirius Radio With Purchase of Lamborghini
Posted by Mark Wilson at 11:00 PM on June 24, 2008
For most of us, the deciding factor against getting satellite radio are those pesky subscription costs. Now Sirius has just signed a deal with Automobili Lamborghini to offer the car customers free lifetime service of Sirius. One word of caution: The deal starts with the 2009 Murciélago. So make sure you don't buy a 2008 Lamborghini only to find yourself jacked with huge, unexpected fees.
AU: I'd very much doubt that this is for Aussies, but if anybody out there is looking to buy a 2009 Lamborghini, feel free to let us know.[Edmunds] Thanks Frank!

@GeekyNerdGuy: No. Lamborghini is owned by Audi, owned by VW (however Audi now influences the cars and VW does squat), and is not associated with their rival, Porsche. Strange how you would know about the VW connection, but not notice the picture is of a Gallardo instead of a Murciélago...

It should be the other way around...buy a Sirius radio and get a Lamborghini...they should rethink their marketing strategy

@Joseph:
[www.edmunds.com] Base MSRP is $392,400
$500 / $392,400 = 0.001274 = 0.13% of the price. Please take some math lessons from Letsgohokies.

@graphx:
I was deciding between getting a sirius and a HD radio. Now that they're throwing in a free Lambo with the sirius subscription, I guess HD sounds less attractive.

@Letsgohokies: $500/$333,000 = $0.0015015015. It's actually 0% cost of the car.

Well, a lifetime subscription to Sirius is $500, so that makes it like .25% of the cost of the car. Great selling point.

But really, isn't a Lambo just a VW? Which, I guess would make it a Porsche ...

1. Who listens to the radio?
2. If I had a lambo... it would be fitted with a wicked system to play all my mp3's....
radio??? Really???

@zackthebuddha: Dude, Porsche bought VW. There was a big article in CAR this month about how they're going to kill off all the unprofitable Audi and VW models and revamp next year.

I had one of those free subscriptions in my 2006 VW Jetta. I bought it new from the dealer with the Sirius Satellite radio. I just sold it used 2.5 years later and the Sirius Satellite radio was still active and kicking. The Sirius people send me marketing material every once in a while about activating my account and getting a month free but I just keep telling them that I'm not interested.
Could it have something to do with the VW connection between the Jetta and the Murcielago? I don't know. Other cats in VW Forums have told me that Sirius does miss deactivating the accounts on many of the users there so I guess you either have to be lucky or spend $350K on a Lambo to get it.

@zackthebuddha: Audi's Q7 SUV is sitting on an elongated platform for both the Touareg and Cayenne models, so they are associated one way or another.
Also, the article ALSO mentions the 2009 Murcielago, not the Gallardo LP560 pictured. It's just an example of a Lambo, not the specific Lambo this deal comes with. Be nice, or I'll give you such a pinch.

@GeekyNerdGuy:
So, according to your article (which, bravo, is very recent) your saying being a majority shareholder in a company = buying the company?
@Kaiser-Machead's Chips Ahoy!: The links you gave about porsche buying VW are dated in 2007, whereas GeekyNerdGuy's article about Porsche buying majority stock in VW is dated in 2008, as if they didn't buy porsche, and are going to soon purchase enough stock to become the majority holder, ergo, they havent bought the company. maybe i just don't know enough about big business as you do but apparently this company is buying its own stock
and yes, i know its a gallardo used to represent the lamborghini brand and not the 2009 murcielago
zackthebuddha
GeekyNerdGuy
Posted 1:50 PM 25/6/08
@zackthebuddha: Last year they bought over 30% as noted in Kaiser's articles. This year they bought over 50%, which makes them the majority shareholder and therefore gives them the power to control VW.
So yes, they own VW.
