Computer Love is a Beautiful Thing

At the risk of sounding less than 100% diesel masculine, I'll admit that I absolutely adore this comic strip on computer love. Click the link for the whole story, but I found this panel alone somewhat poignant in a it's-late-afternoon-so-I'm-searching-for-life's-meaning sort of way. [See Mike Draw via Super Punch]

I'm so creeped out. My name is Ted and I'm balding.
At least I don't think that machines talk to me.
Oh, and I use a ShuttleX, not a Mac.
I guess it's not as bad as I thought.

i love how screen flicker makes my eyes send stress signals to my brain until my language comes out like a burned out digital display. i love how i am brain damaged by this machine.

Go to Menu Bar ---->click ---> select System Preferences
--> click Speech ->select Speech Recognition button
> Set Speakable Items radio button to off
Then from Speech preference pain ->select Text to Speech button
> unclick Announce when alerts are displayed
> unclick Announce when application requires your attention
> unclick Speak selected text when the key is pressed
PROBLEM SOLVED! or you could just drag the AI to the trash.

"Computer Love" always reminds me of the delightfully melodic Kraftwerk song with the same name, which was interpolated/covered in part by Coldplay's "Talk".
