The resolution on this one is 720x480 and its the same spec. lcd screen that appears on their eeePC ... but I'd like to know what the price would be?
For your readers interest there's an 8 inch one by OLIN available here with the exact same 720x480 resolution and it also has battery power...

Why do people but these lcd photo frames? I dont understand the point of wasting energy on a screen you wont be watching 95% of the time.

@myotheralt: In the store I work at, most people seem to buy them as gifts. Few seem to buy them for themselves.
The Samsung ones also work as secondary display.

@TailsNZ: I like this one with its dual purpose, but regular picture frames are good enough for pictures.
I could probably make one that can rotate through printed photos. That would be cool.

Also; why is it so hard to find reasonably priced 7" screens?

Hmm, can I use it as a primary display? It's hard to find reasonably priced 7" screens.

I like the idea of using it for a secondary display, but what to use it for.... maybe for IM chats?
@easy2panic: This model is hi-res, your comment is pretty irrelevant.

Someone also needs to tell Asus to hire someone who can design a nice looking GUI for once.

I'd buy this if only for the fact that finding smaller screens is near impossible now...
Maybe I'd stick RSS feeds on it or something.

I've seen people use these at design, craft shows et c. as POP displays or to show demos. It's a lot easier than wasting a whole computer to run a slide show.

@bvicarious: a bit late... but exactly. i bought 2 random photo frames that play (a very picky encoding) MP4s... and plug them into huge plasma screens at various meetings to play looped video or slide shows. (or just sitting on a table.) MUCH more convenient than dedicating an entire laptop for it... which is what we used to do.
