Agent 18 MacBook Air Shield Protects Your Darling
Posted by Mark Wilson at 2:20 AM on June 5, 2008
While stuffing the svelte MacBook Air into a case may seem to defeat the point of buying an Air in the first place, some of you will do it anyway. And this Agent 18 MacBook Air Shield looks like a decent compromise. Constructed of durable, lightweight polycarbonate, the Shield leaves your USB port and ventilation unobstructed for happy computing while reinforcing the edges and bottom for the occasional latte collision. US$50 and available now.

Finally, a solution to the one problem with the MacBook Air: It is too thin.
Finally we can put this whole debate to bed, and happily admit the MacBook Air (with Agent 18 MacBook Air Shield) is now the greatest laptop in the universe.

Does it also protect sleep Mac users from being branded by their over-priced laptop?

Wounding is a terrible thing. I suggest intensive therapy before she moves on to more self-destructive behavior.

@Jimbuck: My thing about those matte keys is that they'll start developing shiny spots right in the middle, especially the space bar. They should've used a chiclet version of the Macbook Pro keys.

It's made out of polycarbonate? The same polycarbonate that my black Macbook is made out of? I'm all for shielding our gizmos and all, but this certainly makes this laptop pointless (I'm well aware that this may draw lots of snarky comments on how the Macbook Air was pointless in the first place. DON'T BOTHER! I GOT YOUR NUMBER!). The Air's shell is a pretty well made rigid casing, and doesn't seem to dent nearly as easily as the MBP does. Oh wells, whatever floats their boats.

I can't get over the black keyboard on the MB Air, why Apple!? Just Why!?! The polished titanium look is super sexy, leave the matte black keyboard to Dell.

The whole point of the Air was size/weight. This case just removes the only two selling points. Dumb.

@europria: Or that one simply doesn't want to be burdened with all that comes with damaging something this expensive.
I put a protective case over my iPod, so obviously, I can't afford it :P

If it works as other Agent 18's products, I wouldn't recommend at all...
Just bought, along with the 400.00 iPhone, an 30.00 Agent 18's Eco Shield, and ended up with chrome severely scratched after 1 week of use...
just hate this f#$%*ng agent... >:(

I piss on the remote when O'Reilly's on.

@mSiqueira: The Air has no chrome-plated or glossy parts to get scuffed up by any case. Unless this thing has a large-tooth sandpaper texture on the inside, it's not going to scratch anything.

@dcalfine: you're right, my second comment should have had the word 'day' in it somewhere.
As for your second point, I'm not hung up on myself and therefore don't have anything to get over.
But thank you for your concern, it was very sweet.

Just a thought for apple.... you know how that guy was trying to take u to court over getting his arm sliced open with his macbook air, maybe apple should just throw one of these on all of the airs to stop that problem lol.
