Wan Love Yu Dog Shower Cleans Puppy Without Shampoo
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 3:00 AM on June 15, 2008
One of the most harrowing experiences of owning a dog, I've found, is the act of bathing it. For some reason, dogs that were happy to jump in a pond or pool suddenly find themselves allergic to water come bath time. If shampoo getting into Rover's eyes is the problem, IDEC Corp.'s Wan Love Yu ("Dog Love Bath") dog shower system ensures that you can clean your pup with just water and micro bubbles.
Wan Love Yu's micro bubble technology can stably produce bubbles with a 20μm average diameter, that's roughly 600,000 bubbles in one square centimeter. The bubbles are negatively charged so that they attach to positively charged organic particles and lift them off. The result--foam that reaches way down into a dog's hair to dissolve dirt and grime.

The Wan Love Yu generator attaches to a regular hose in the bathtub, so it doesn't require any additional piping work. IDEC is planning on releasing Wan Love on June 20 in Japan for between US$6,000 to US$7,000. Though if that's the price for shampoo free doggy eyes, I say Fido ought to just suck it up and bathe the old fashioned way. [Fareastgizmos]

@Carmen HATES shit talkers :): When I took care of my sis' pit bull, he used to actually enjoy being bathed, but he also enjoyed rolling in the garden afterwards.

@Kaiser-Machead's got LindsayJoy's cookies on the SuperDrive: That is how I used to help bathe my friends dog...except he was the devil when it came to it and we'd put his shampoo in a water bottle and squirt it b.c if we did it straight from the bottle he'd go nuts. Than we would make his chain he was on even shorter and spray him down lol and when we got to the front we'd do that mist crap...the dogs dead now, but I still don't miss that crap.

@dashexpress: that sounds uncultured. I believe you are thinking of the Chinese. This article refers to the Japanese. Not all Asians are the same. Unless they both reallly eat dog.

"... attaches to a regular hose in the bathtub, so it doesn't require any additional piping work."
I don't know anyone who has an outdoor hose spigot in their bathroom.

I find that a bigger problem is getting water in Rover's ears, rather than his eyes, though it's easily avoided.
All of my dog bathing sessions was just shampooing the mongrel on the patio and spraying him down with the water hose. He didn't seem to mind.

@GoodBytes: Why can't a cat lick itself like it wants to? What's the point?

Ok that's great and all... But what we need now is a water-less method to clean cats.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand what the benefit is. The information suggests, "The bubbles are negatively charged so that they attach to positively charged organic particles and lift them off." What about inorganic ones?
As I understood it, and as definitions have confirmed, organic = carbon-based. See here:
define:organic
# relating or belonging to the class of chemical compounds having a carbon basis; "hydrocarbons are organic compounds"
# of or relating to or derived from living organisms; "organic soil"
# involving or affecting physiology or bodily organs; "an organic disease"
# of or relating to foodstuff grown or raised without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides or hormones; "organic eggs"; "organic vegetables"; "organic chicken"
# simple and healthful and close to nature; "an organic lifestyle"
# constituent(a): constitutional in the structure of something (especially your physical makeup)
# a fertilizer that is derived from animal or vegetable matter
@greggantic: That was my next statement precisely. The price of this thing is absolutely out of hand.

@Kaiser-Machead's got LindsayJoy's cookies on the SuperDrive: My puppy loves baths. I guess I lucked out, since she gets pretty dirty walking/running 4-5 miles a day in the redwoods.

@Josh_Geyer: I've been to a dog farm in Korea. All countries treat animals like shit though. Imagine what people think of our cattle industry in India? I don't care what animals people eat, as long as they are treated well and killed as painless as possible.

wth? 20 bucks a month? try 150 for my old english sheepdog. that machine would pay for itself in about 3 years... but then again, the reason why i pay 150 is because i'm too lazy to wash the dog in the first place.

That is one great looking pup....
I love chocolate... But if someone was trying to hose me down with chocolate, I'd hate it. Dog love jumpiping in the pond, but probably not being hosed down by the pressurized content of the pond. The ones that like it are amy the ones who's owners made it feel fun... Like a pond. (One of the best ways to break down a dog fight is a water hose..... Although fighting dogs love water....)

awwww, that's sweet! I would love it if you guys posted more pics of doggies for me to gush over.
A friend of mine works at a dog shelter, which is probably the only place I can think of that this might be worth it. Lookit his dawgs!:

@Elaine Chow: That middle picture looks like the dog has a little conjunctivitis. Nothing that a 10 day eye drop medication couldn't get rid of. The cutest pictures of my pooch are probably from when she was 3 months old:

@kaikai34: Some Americans also keep pigs as pets, but most of us eat them. So it's not so weird that countries where some people eat a given kind of animal (e.g. dogs) also has people who keep that same kind of animal as pets.

Are these micro bubbles cousins of the micro scrugging bubbles that clean your bathroom? Hmmm... Let me think. $15 shampoo + dog with stinging eyes vs. $7000 dog bath? Not a tough one to do the math on this one.
Let's see... I paid about $400 for my dog (still a litte too much in my book). Why pay $7000 for something to clean it with? When it gets too dirty just trade it in for a new one. I can do this 17 times and still be ahead. On top of that I don't get tired of the same dog.
I found giving my dog vallium before she gets a bath works wonders to get rid of those doggie bath gitters.
