Hey, Y'all. More or less just waking up for the day (yeah, I lead a rough life). The party last night was just amazing. I mean, over the many years I've been to quite a few of these type of WWDC/Macworld/NAB/etc. beer bashes and, I gotta say, I've never seen so many people having a truly pleasant and fun time. I think you can see that in the pictures (which, btw, my photos are the "no-flash" series--I NEVER use flash, LOVE the D3--so creatively titled _DSCxxxx).

It was great to meet nutbastard, Brian, Lisa and other folks live and in person, and it was fun to get to play "big geek photographer" for a few hours. Many thanks to Blam/Gizmodo and the ARS team for hosting a fabulous event!

I wouldn't bother responding, but I'm pretty sure I don't make the kind of comments you reference, certainly not regularly. And I don't want to be lumped in as doing so. And regardless of what I may or may not think, thinking and saying are actually two very different things, just like saying and doing are two different things. And on top of that, saying it once is one thing. Making it a habit of how one approaches commenting is another.

As far as I'm concerned this is a place of opinions and ideas, so that's what is fair game. (i.e. if I say something stupid, you get to slam me for it), but looks? success? etc? Not so much.

I'm not saying I'm correct, but if you get to call somebody ugly with saggy tits - and keep in mind, these aren't random public figures in a caption contest, or even random strangers from an image file, these are folks who may well see your comments given the context of the pictures - then I get to agree with someone who says that sounds childish and insecure, if not mean-spirited.

I recognize I'm a grumpy old p.c. liberal, but I do have my reasons for my positions. You're right, none of us are perfect, but that doesn't mean any of us are beyond reproach either.
