Sony's DR-BT140QP Bluetooth Headset Mightn't Make You Look Geeky
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 10:10 PM on June 16, 2008
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Bluetooth headsets are not a good fashion statement, even Borg-like ones. But with these little earpieces from Sony, you might be able to get away with it and not look too geeky. The DR-BT140Qs double as normal earphones with a frequency response of 16Hz to 24kHz and have 30mm drivers, while the Bluetooth part is 2.0 and supports A2DP/AVRCP/HFP/HSP profiles. The built-in battery will last you about 12 hours, and they're available in July for US$138.89 in silver, white, black and pink. [Akihabaranews]

Now if they could just make one that someone could afford, that'd be great.

I just wish these came with a boom mic on a wind-up wire boom. Y'know, so to answer a call, you could just pull the mic out like a tape measure, and then hit a button to retract the boom when you're done. That would be sweet.

Ahh the bluetooth headset...
The only fashion accessory that 16 year old urban youth and 45 year old housewives both think makes them look equally cool.
And they are both equally mistaken.

I think these are cool. I thought the whole reason a bluetooth headset makes you look like a tool is because how people like to act too important with them. (AKA, they rly only need to be used while driving.) The use of headphones doesn't have the same effect IMO.

@Muttonchops:
I would agree with you if you were talking about the bluetooth phone headset but A2DP headphones like these don't make you look like a tool IMO. I've been using these [www.i-luv.com] for a while and they look like regular headphones except for the blue LED. I would pick up a pair of these Sony's next time I'm back home in Tokyo.

Why does it look like there are chords coming from the ear pieces in the pic?

@chrisvarick:
There's a cord running between the earpieces. I'd wager only one earpiece has a bluetooth antenna.

What's the point of integrating Bluetooth A2DP reception and audio headphones when you can use any headphones with a $80 Bluetooth stereo audio receiver that's tiny? I'm not pimping products so I won't mention any, but I love mine. and don't know why these aren't ubiquitous. - VR
