Brando's Cyber Tap Radios Suck (Onto Your Shower Cubicle)
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 8:15 PM on June 11, 2008
Brando's Cyber Tap bath-time radio is not massively high-tech, sure, but its cuteness is undeniable. Stick its 12 cm sucker onto tiles or glass, adjust FM/AM frequency and twirl the volume tap to boogie away to showertime music. Is the red one more suited to Hot Gossip while the blue one's best for Coldplay? Who knows, but after a bad joke like that you'll be pleased to know the water-resistant, battery-powered Cyber Tap costs US$16. [Brando]

Actually it really sucks. The frequency adjuster broke on the first few turns, so now the radio plays only one station, and also it makes loud cracking noises everytime you try to change the volume. Maybe i should do something about the pot, but all in all it's just not worth it.

Just glancing at the pics, I thought it was a good idea to have color coded hot/cold knobs, especially for kids and elders. No way was I expecting radio. Great camo.

Hmmm... radios sometimes don't work the best inside houses, especially with new construction having metal studs, & with the item being low to the ground doesn't exactly help the situation... unless of course you put it higher up in the shower.
But if Xpac is right, and it's shoddy construction, then I'll pass buying it as a gift. Cool idea tho.

Actually the red one only plays Sammy Hagar. But they're working on it.

I got one of these for a friend. it's cute as hell, but it broke before I could even get it to her. First the battery cover broke when I was unscrewing the screw holding it down. Then, when I turned the knob to test the radio. It clicked on, but then suddenly there was another random click. That was the lil nub that turns the radio on and off snapping and breaking off... it never turned off again. I had no time to get another so I gave it to her anyway, and promised to get her a replacement. We then tested it in the shower wall. we cleaned and wet the wall, then stuck it there. It fell within 5 minutes and smashed to pieces....ah good times...

I've had one of these for years now and i'm the complete opposite - it's been really good, batteries last for ages, survived loads of drops etc and the suction cup stays sticky. Signal's good too. (In UK, I know you guys have a different frequency range for FM so maybe that's the issue?)
