This is a momentous day for me (I won’t spoil the surprise) and what better way to celebrate momentous days than by knitting a pair of Spock ears for my lugs. If I were going to the New York meet-up you would be able to identify me by these furry little thingies—sod the fact that I would probably collapse from heatstroke before I even got to the sodding ballgame—and I could be the fount of mirth while you watched the rounders match, or whatever it is they’re playing on the pitch. Anyway. Ears. Spock. Knitted. Look like sideways boobies. What more do you want on a Friday? [Yarn Songs via Boing Boing]
Nokia’s Supernova range is out today. Nokia says the 7610, 7510, 7310, and 7210 are aimed at the ladies of the world (including Caribbean, Parisian, Bolivian, Namibian, Amphibian, Presbyterian, Outta sight, Late night, Erudite, and Hermaphrodites), coming in all sorts of colours and shapes, as you can see in the press release, gallery, and bonus Friday video.
DXG’s new 567v looks designed to join Flip cam lookalikes in the YouTube camcorder game. But this candybar form-factor camera packs in a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor and records at 1280 x 720 pixels HD resolution at 30 frames per second: meaning it’s far beyond YouTube’s video requirements. Recording to SDHC cards, it also comes with all the cabling to connect it to your TV and has ArcSoft TotalMedia editing software in the box. Available now for US$179. Press release below.
After months of ridicule for one of the stupidest decisions in the history of the Internet, it appears that the online auction giant eBay may have come to its senses. Today they’ve sent users an email stating that the payment changes scheduled for July 15 have been postponed indefinitely, until the ACCC makes their final ruling.
Of course, this doesn’t rule out some future madness that might take control of eBay’s board and make them insist that Paypal is the only way forward again, but at the moment it looks like sellers are safe from compulsory double payments.
It’s also important to note that the changes already brought in, like compulsory Paypal listing (among other forms of payment) are here to stay.
I wonder if it’s too late though… how many users have already made the switch to another auction site?

newVideoPlayer("/legocathedrals_gizmodo.flv", 520, 410,""); Without a doubt, the Lego brick storage buildings were the most impressive part of my visit to Lego. When I first saw their 20 metre high ceilings, with multiple giant robots going up and down retrieving boxes full of bricks, I felt like I entered the Matrix. Below the thunderous noise of the flying machines, I heard myself shouting: “It’s a cathedral.” And as you will see in the video, with a total 65.6 square-miles storage area–900 million pieces at any given time–they are indeed The Lego Cathedrals. I was in total awe, and the amazement didn’t stop there.
Next Tuesday, July 1st, poses something of a dilemma for me. You see, over the past six weeks, I have received four invites to press events on the same day. About six weeks ago, the guys from Philips asked me to save the date for an event of theirs. About four weeks ago, Canon sent around an invite for an event on the same day, with overlapping times and everything. Two weeks ago, Nikon invited me out for lunch on the same day, and now, on top of all of that, TiVo are holding a press event as well.
Aside from the obvious clash from four different launches, I also have to take my wife to see her cardiologist that day.
Just like Michael Bluth, for me family comes first, so my afternoon is booked out. But which event should I choose from the other four that are on offer? Do I go to Philips, because they got in first (and I told them I would be there?) Or do I opt for the latest (and potentially most interesting) event from TiVo? Or do Canon or Nikon deserve my presence?
What do you guys think? Let me know in comments.
Despite all the rumours and tips we’d received about the iPhone launching on 3, it looks like the mobile network isn’t actually getting the iPhone 3G any time soon.
Yesterday afternoon, 3 sent out a press release for their new online iPhone petition to Apple, where 3 customers can voice their hopes and dreams for an X-series Jesusphone to browse the web from their pocket cheaply.
Noel Hamill, the Director of Sales, Marketing and Product at 3, said: “Ever since Apple’s announcement that a 3G iPhone is coming, we’ve had lots of calls and emails – the main flavour is people wanting to get the value that 3 offers with the iPhone. “While we’ve been engaging with Apple to secure the iPhone for 3, we don’t know whether we can range it.“We want Apple to see just how much our customers want the iPhone.”
I’m not too sure how much Apple listen’s to petitions from network providers, but if you want to lend your voice to the cause you can either check out their website or – if you’re a 3 customer – SMS the word iPhone to 333000 to receive a form you can fill out from your mobile.

It seems that opening large stores is all the rage at the moment. After Apple’s Sydney Store opening last week, Telstra yesterday threw the shackles off its new T[life]store on the corner of Bourke and Swanston streets in Melbourne.
Unlike Apple, there were no people camping out overnight; there’s no gigantic glass panels or Italian sandstone; instead there’s two levels of Telstra, crowned by a giant 22 x 2.5 metre LCD screen.
As with other T[life]stores, you can tell the obvious Apple Store influence, from the free daily training sessions and demonstrations, areas dedicated to getting your hands on the products and other areas dedicated to business users and home networking. Considering that this is their fifth T[life]store, they must be doing something right as well.
Telstra also used the launch to show off their new QR codes yesterday, and for everybody keeping notes, they refused to discuss the iPhone (although Uncle Sol did pull out the new HTC Touch Diamond for a bit). Uncle Sol did, however, go on to say that Telstra was bigger than Apple.

The Cell processor in ye old PS3 has been getting the 65nm treatment since the fall, but the RSX graphics chips inside should get the same in the fall, resulting in slightly more reliable, more energy efficient chips. [Kotaku]
