Watch as the RingBo Robot Atrophies the Muscles of Our Future Generations
Posted by Adam Frucci at 7:15 AM on May 15, 2008
We showed you the little lazy-kid-moving RingBo yesterday, and now we have a ludicrous video of it in action. Watch! As an adorable Korean toddler spins aimlessly in circles in a variety of outfits. Listen! To some of the most ridiculous music to be produced since the 1980s. Cringe! At the thought of parents dropping US$140 to allow their 3-year-olds to give up on walking at such a young age. You're looking at the future, friends. The lazy, lazy future. [Koreannovation]

"Listen! To some of the most ridiculous music to be produced since the 1980s."
I'm not proud to admit any of this but that music WAS produced in the 80's.
I can't remember who was accountable for it or its name but I definitely remember hearing it way back when yellow was the new black.

"RingBo Robot Atrophies the Muscles of Our Future Generations"
You mean... like the automobile? At least with public transit you get to walk for a decent amount of time and distance.

True story: My frind found a cane on the side of the road and one day decided to see how it felt to walk with it (after getting really into house). His neighbors, many of which needed canes for real, saw him around his apartment that day, and rather than tell them what he was doing, he made up a knee condition that 'acted up' in the winter. All winter long, whenever he would walk in, out or about his apartment he would use the cane, waiting for spring when he could stop using it again.
Spring rolled around and now he has one weak leg and has trouble walking long distances. Plus, since he was using the cane incorrectly a la House, he can't even use the cane normally to help the situation.
Muscles Atrophie is no joke. Not unless it happens to your friends anyway.

I know this stupid thing will make me even scrawnier. Doesn't matter what I buy my daughter or what she rides, I ALWAYS end up having to carry it home... seems to be mostly up hill too.

As a parent, I can say kids won't get too fat on this as it only runs for an hour. The child will spend the 6 hours waiting for it to charge, kicking and screaming for it!

You know, there's all this talk about how this is going to make kids lazy, but it could be quite helpful for all the flipper babies that can't walk anyway.
Nobody ever cashes in on the flipper-baby market.

@GeekyNerdGuy: OH POOP! ...i still won't break it, i just don't think I could. but than again as soon as my fat ass sits down on it and the joysticks shoot straight in the air and the thing starts crying, i'll know it wasn't meant to be.

But as they get to fat, it won't move, so then they'll lose weight to be able to ride it again. The circle has no beginning or end.

Dude, that kid looks exactly like a tiny version of this pothead that works in our IT department -- same shirt, same haircut, same everything.
And I would totally buy one if they can up that 30kg weight limit and reduce the charging time.

Powerwheels were cool because they were (at least mine was) a bigfoot monster truck. This is a puny ass alien robot-mobile... weak. Nonetheless... its cool as sin, and any young toddler would love something like this. But no, I wouldn't get it for my child. He/she will have a big red and yellow playskool yabbadabba doo car..or perhaps a he-man tricycle.
