Transformers Coming To Blu-Ray?
Posted by Nick Broughall at 9:15 AM on May 27, 2008

Well, Michael Bay will be a happy man today, if the rumours are true - TVshowsonDVD.com are reporting that Paramount has given Transformers a release date on the Blu-ray format.
The projected street date is September 2nd, although that is for the US. The movie is scheduled to be released in a 2-disc pack, just like the HD DVD release, although details are fairly short on the ground.
Watching Transformers on HD DVD really made the format worthwhile for me - it's why I haven't ditched my HD DVD player. What about you guys? You likely to pick up the Blu-ray version of this?

This will likely be one of the few films I've already got on DVD that I'll also buy on Blu-Ray.
So far the only other DVDs I've started to upgrade are my Pixar collection.

There's a funny thing going on at Sony Style in melbourne. Their demonstrating one of those cool round bluray home theater pc's with Transformers playing. Upon closer inspection they have pirated a HD-DVD copy and are streaming it from the HD. Somewhat ironic when there are plenty of bluray films and if anyone walks in there to buy transformers on bluray their going to have some explaining to do...

That's extremely ironic Stirling! Doesn't surprise me though. You know, "Do as I say, Not as I do"
I chose HD-DVD, and I haven't gone Blu-Ray yet - I'll wait till I buy a PS3 for that.
I'll be interested to see what features are on the Blu-Ray disc though, and whether there's any incentive to buy it all over again (I already own 3 copies though... HD-DVD, DVD, and DVD special Edition)
