I always loved those Mvix products. It would be even sweeter if it was WiFi and Bluetooth, but I see the need for one of those.

That actually looks pretty frigin sweet. Lacks 1080p, and you need a separate HDD with this correct?

No built in display at all? Even a small lcd display would make this a usable mp3 player when you did not have a video display to plug into...

@brutek: Science has given you the ability to play your pirated movies on any television you desire off a device the size of a paperback book. Don't be greedy.

why can it not use a 300GB or 500GB 2.5" hard drive?

@Darrone: It does not include the HDD, but, whatever you provide, is internal. :D
And it does upscaling!
As for it not being 1080p, you really won't notice unless you're watching on a large screen, say 42" or better.
Very sweet!

@Darrone: Yeah, I wonder if this thing comes with a HDD in it at $149 or if you have to purchase and install separately. Either way, with the low cost of HDD and the relatively low cost of this device it is a pretty good deal. Plus the small size of this thing would make it great for taking your movies with you on trips or just over to a friends to watch.

intriguing, but the newegg reviews for the similar mvix 780 are not very good..

This looks like something that you would carry around with an HD video camera.
But it doesn't support h264.

Now if they put in a projector, that would be almost perfect.

I doubt this supports .mkv containers, which defeats the whole purpose of it being able to play HD content anyways.

@defn: Possibly a silly question, but how does it negate playing HD?

@hnkelley: Erm, it has something to do with the majority of HD stuff one can get his hands on. Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only one complaining. :(

This thing better have HDMI output, otherwise what's the point in making it HD? (The pics don't show HDMI, hopefully it's on the other side)
I have a MediaGate MG350HD, and it's excellent. If only it was the same size as this Mvix ...

@defn: I see. It looks good, but I found why it isn't on hardware: [en.wikipedia.org] (Criticisms section).
