Good thing about Rio: compared to most other beach cities, while people certainly care about how THEY look, they don't care a bit about how YOU look. Beaches in Rio are very democratic in terms of looks, you could be a bit (too) flabby, a bit (too) overweight, a bit (too) old and people would treat you in a manner that would make you feel very comfortable still. We'd certainly be a bit weirded out if you look "too" pale or keep your shirt on - but then again, maybe not.

The style is called Pagode. It's a different style of samba, began at the 80's if I'm correct.

@Pinguin: Don't exaggerate. Just try not to look touristic.

They are FAR less likely to rob you if look natural, than a tourist. That's because tourists always bring more money, and since dollar is worth R$1.60...

And no way that is samba o.o That is some mixed style, don't know what, but that's not samba.

Still, it's nearer from Brazilian samba than what United States thinks it is.

I spent 2 years in Sao Paulo many many many years ago and have had a love of samba and bossa nova since that time. The music then was great and has only gotten better since then. I love these videos...go to Pandora.com and set up your own Bossa nova station and you will become addicted!

bought an HP printer 3 months ago for $60, 2 months later had to buy a black ink cartridge for $20. If the color cart sells for $20 then the printer is really $20.
Now, they say I shouldn't refill for it damages the machine. I say maybe I should refill 2 or 3 times and then buy another NON HP printer.
Said that, I'm feeling like a Inimigos fan.
