Family Guy Enters The Matrix
Posted by Mark Wilson at 7:30 AM on May 7, 2008
If someone had asked me right when I woke up this morning if I expected to see an superbFamily Guy/Matrix trailer mashup—I'd probably have searched YouTube for it later—but I'd have done so quite incredulously. [via newlaunches]

@MagnoliaBoy:Well i should have clarified and pointed towards american dad which i think is absolutely horrible for the political angle. Its just an awful non funny show.
Overall though i just think family guy has lots its edge. I thought the star wars thing was just terribly boring an unfunny. Obviously people dont like having their favorite show bashed so this is just my personal opinion.

It's become way too predictable. Still funny, but predictable. South Park's satire was pretty accurate.

@snakepliskin: Like the matrix, you'll see what you want. I see one of the only three shows I watch on tv (hello Scrubs & The Office).

@violentsingalong: Yes, all nerds are psychically connected, Jocks beware...
@snakepliskin: You must mean the ones from during the Writer's Strike, they went ahead and hired Scabs to write for Family Guy, Seth wasn't involved untill towards the end. They were pretty awfull, not sure about political though, dumb sure...

No matter what they try, the Simpsons will still be right behind, just like some pointy yellow-headed Agent Smiths:

Just hearing that audio brings back the chills. I remember watching that trailer a thousand times.
Too bad it did a downward spiral after Reloaded. It never did recover that special place in my heart after.

Sounds to me that you are the one trying to play the political angle.

Ugh what happened to family guy. After it came back from being cancelled it just was never the same. Mcfarlene keeps trying to play the political angle and it is just not funny.

@citykids: Funny that I'm English but I prefer the craptastic nbc version. People here tend to judge the american one before watching it. They're both good though.

would that "The Office" be the brilliant BBC version or the craptastic NBC drivel?

@snakepliskin: Political angle? I think there was a 2 part South Park episode that was based on the mere premise that Family Guy is just complete randomness and South Park is the cartoon that likes the smell of its own farts with its political preachiness. [www.southparkstudios.com] season 10, The Cartoon Wars.
Man, I watch too much cartoons. Ok, must balance this out....boobies. ::Peter Griffin laugh::

Lol....the music makes me wanna see the matrix again. If only the W'Brothers could create something as awesome again instead of that dumb Speed Racer crap they're coming out with this year...yea, the CGI looks ok, but WTF? kind of movie is that????

@James :
Yes, I remember watching a crappy trailer in the internet back in 1999 and I thought, this is going to be the best action movie ever. Totally true!! The Matrix trailer rules!!! The first matrix was sooo good!!!! the awesomest bestest so far. Iron man is cool though.

Honestly.... with how well (and funny) they pulled off Star Wars Episode 4..... i could honestly see a Family Guy-gone-Matrix spoof working.
Seriously can't wait to see the other Family Guy Star Wars ones though.

@MagnoliaBoy: Those episodes that were completed during the writer's strike had already been written, animated, with all voice work done. FOX simply went ahead and finished the post-production work on them without McFarlane's blessing, because he likes to tinker a little to add some touches here and there before he's happy with any given episode, so those episodes that aired during the strike weren't given the McFarlane seal of approval. No scabs were involved.

@snakepliskin: And if you want to talk about the political angle, just watch South Park. That show jumped the shark a long time ago. Man bear pig? That's supposed to be satire? Fuck those guys.

@rohan1: I'm also English and I absolutely agree. Most people bashing the American version haven't actually tried watching it. It also helps if you keep in mind that it's a different program!
