Wireless Pong Between Multiple iPhones, iPod Touch

11:45PM Gizmodo US Edition | This has to be the coolest implementation of Pong ever: load the iPong application in two or three iPod touch units or iPhones, and start playing between them using your finger, with the ball actually passing from one screen to the other depending on the ball angle. Wired Editor Drops, Destroys RAZR on Live TV

11:38PM Adam Frucci | Wired Senior Editor Nick Thompson was on the Today Show this morning talking about why the N95 and iPhone are the best high-end phones and the RAZR is the best cheap phone. OK, fair enough. Unfortunately for Nick, when he dropped the RAZR to the floor to demonstrate its durability, it ended up getting destroyed in the process. It’s a sound and sight I’m sure many of you former RAZR owners are familiar with. Well, I guess it proved your point, Nick: the RAZR is cheap. Very cheap. [Boing Boing Gadgets] More »

Valve’s Steam Cloud Brings Cloud Computing to Gaming Masses

11:30PM Matt Buchanan | In the next update to Valve’s Steam client, which distributes and manages PC games, and is probably the best digital distribution setup around (other software companies wish they had a setup half as good), Valve will be throwing cloud computing into the mix. Called Steam Cloud, the update will let you store profiles, keybindings and all of your save games online, in addition to social networking features like calendars and stuff. The cloud storage is free. Why is this a big deal? More »

.Mac Getting a New Name?

10:38PM Mark Wilson | Aside from the obvious 3G iPhone rumour floating around this year’s WWDC, the other, quieter rumour has been that Apple will be revamping .Mac in a major way. Now one code enthusiast thinks he’s found some evidence in a pile of 10.5.3 strings that points to a name change (which we think points to a revamp). He explains: More »

Peeandgo, The Lady Urinal with a Splash of Gold

9:59PM Gizmodo US Edition | You may be forgiven for thinking it’s toilet week here on Giz, but how could we not show you this? The Peeandgo, designed by Chen-Karlsson takes its inspiration from traditional squat urinals in Asia and the Middle East, and I’m guessing its *ahem* provocative shape is designed to stop splashback. There’s no info on pricing, or indeed on whether that’s real gold, so it looks like a design prototype. It’s nice to see a rethink, and a bit of luxury devoted to the oft-ignored porcelain things in the bathroom, but, ladies of Giz, do you think this design is actually convenient nowadays? LEGO Star Wars Minifig Lights Up with LED, Scares Other Minifigs

9:47PM Gizmodo US Edition | This modded LEGO Star Wars Clone Trooper is the best use of a light-emitting diode since my LED-based Lava shot glasses, Philips Living Colours lamp, and psychedelic bath tub rubber ducky (which work extremely well combined.) The process of adding the LED is fairly easy, as you can see in the gallery. More »

Yes— this is the kind of job you dreamed of when you were a kid, but you’d also have to “inspire the astronauts, space scientists and extraterrestrial entrepreneurs of the future.” Made possible by a Virgin Galactic donation, the program’s open to anyone, anywhere. What are you waiting for? Head on over to the website and fill in the form to register your interest, spaceman. I’ve already filled it in. [Wired Science] More »

aTV One-Step Apple TV Hack Gizmo Discontinued

8:23PM Gizmodo US Edition | It was just the other day that we brought you news of the aTV single step Apple TV flash-drive hack, bringing cool functionality to your Apple TV. But now a notice on Apple Core’s website says the device has been discontinued (voluntarily, according to the company) over questions about the fair use of some of the software the gizmo uses to work its magic. At least it looks like people who’ve stumped up cash for one will be getting their money back— the full statement sheds more light on the matter. More »
