LG T80 PMP Packs in Touchscreen, DVB for Europeans
Posted by Haroon Malik at 11:00 PM on April 13, 2008
LG has just revealed the T80 PMP, which has the makings of a promising media player, at least for the Europeans. The T80 boasts a 3-inch, 260k colour (420 x 240) touchscreen, supports MPEG, MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, ASF, JPEG, TXT files, has an FM tuner, integrated microphone and a DVB-T receiver, which blows for anyone outside of Europe. The T80 will endure 5.5hours of video playback or 3 hours of TV viewing on a single charge, comes with a paltry 4GB disk space and assaults your wallet at €299 ($506). If you're hot for the player, consider getting your import on. [Generationmp3 via PMP Today]

Nice one but the disk space is really a dealbreaker.

Not a bad looker, but LG stuff can be a little hit and miss sometimes, though their products generally are well made and well engineered.
I'm guessing DMB won't play nice with ATSC so whatever of this makes it here will be incomplete.

Just looks like another touchscreen thing to me. I would have to actually try the interface to know whether this is anything special. But, yes, they are going to need to change the 4gb limit to 16gb if they want to bring it to the U.S. And, even then, what are the chances they would take many sales away from the fruit company? Seems unlikely, which is probably why they are not talking about bringing it here.

@Haroon Malik:
It's not a mobile phone. Retard is correct. My bad! For some reason it looked phone-ish enough (and was made by LG) that I just assumed it had to be a phone too.

Wow. This actually makes the 16GB iPod Touch and the 8GB iPhone look like a better deal than something.

@martini1179: Yowch.
The problem I've always had with LG (and hence never bought one of their products) is that they offer the same tech as everyone else, and manage to cram some useful functions into their gear, but then they mess up at the basics.
4GB? That's so 2006...
