Egoman PMP Has 4.3-Inch Touchscreen, 16M Colour Displaying
Posted by Haroon Malik at 2:00 PM on April 7, 2008
Egoman's latest PMP, the MP810RSTD-43 bears an impressive, 4.3-inch touchscreen, which supports 16.7 million colours, and that just about sets it apart from the other iPod touch clones sitting it out in PMP purgatory. The device will playback WVI and RMVB at 30 fps, is just 7.2mm thick and will happily playback MP3, WMA, ADPCM, WAV, APC and FLAC files. With a USB 2.0 port, integrated FM tuner and an onboard TV out port, Egoman haven't done too bad a job here at all. Still, with the product page stating "[all] specifications are subject to change without notice," perhaps we should take the player's planned existence with a touch of salt. [PMP Today]

Why is 24-bit color impressive on a 4.3 inch vapor screen? Seems about as useful as supporting 1080p...

I doubt the iPod Touch was the first touchscreen PMP.

@ Marty
What would keep this from being an iTouch clone? A circular screen? Legs? Come on people. It's small, it's rectangular, it has dark colours just like the overwhelming majority of our portable electronics. That doesn't make it a clone.

the ipod touch is actually an Archos clone!!!
There was the Archos 604 Wifi with a touch screen and web browser. And before that there was the PMA400 with ran Linux and had wifi.

Does the iPod/iPhone support FLAC... anyone else think FLAC will become a household name like MP3.. I havent really tried to compare the two yet but hell... i think its a good topic to argue/bitch about. what does everyone else think?

@Papsky:
I personally don't see it becoming anywhere nearly as widely used as MP3, just because of the size of the files and the fact that the only things that support it are non-mainstream PMP's and even fairly techie people don't even know what it is....plus, most people can't tell the difference between 128kbps MP3's and 320kbps MP3's, so FLAC would be pointless for them.

Hooray, FLAC! Also, anyone who's crying "iPhone clone" at this is pretty unobservant. It doesn't look anything like an iPhone, other than the fact that it's a touchscreen PMP.
In other news, scientists concluded earlier today that Apple Inc. did not in fact invent the galaxy and all that it contains.

I've uncovered a deep conspiracy, all of these Iphone clones have actually been ordered to production by none other than Jedi Master Cipher Diaz, what purpose he had for making an entire army of clones is unknown at this time but I can only shiver in fear and hope for the best

@Marty_MacFly: Are you really that stupid? I see from your avatar you're a Mac guy, so please, keep your idiocy to yourself. Come back when you've actually bothered becoming educated on something not made by Apple.

@Marty_MacFly: haha PWN!
... oh, and yeah. There were a lot of PMPs that came out that were touchscreen before the Touch. Thank god that Apple hasn't made a GPS unit yet, otherwise you'd say all the GPS units that have made in the past with touchscreens are just a iGPS clone.
