This Camera Is Shocking (Sorry)

Forgive the headline, but it's true! The annoying background music is ripped from Noah Kalina's 'net famous "everyday" video, but it's laid over a montage of the camera's (re)construction, which re-routes the battery's juice through the hand of the sucker holding the camera, giving them a nasty little shock. For your own safety, if you nail someone with this, make sure they're either a) smaller than you or b) incapacitated by the jolt. [Pyro Electro, Thanks Chris]

We sort of do this at work all the time. We tear apart the disposable cameras, charge the flash, and then gap the capacitor with a screwdriver just to see the sparks (and hear the loud crack) or sometimes we toss the camera to people hoping they'll catch it just right to get shocked.

I had a fancy looking pen that gave a nasty shock when you pulled of the cap. No-one ever stole pens from desk after that!

This is what we did in electronic principles. Soldered two wires to the capacitor points, left the wires exposed on the end where the shutter button was, hit the flash charge, and handed it to someone. Fun times.

What's funny about that song is that it sounds exactly like "Closing" by Phillip Glass.

I once had a pen like this; battery attached to the clicker (real pen tip came out by twisting the bottom). I got really excited whenever someone asked for a pen :-)

In high school some friends and I made "The fish of pain", a rubber novelty fish stuffed with the electronic guts of a disposable camera. It used a jumbo paper clip as electrodes...priceless!

Hah... reminds me of college when I stripped down an instant camera, charged up the cap and tossed it to a friend.
Hilarity ensued. Thankfully he had a sense of humor else I would have been beaten to a pulp.

once, in summer camp, i made a tazer out of a camera that refused to take pictures. my buddy made 2 black marks on my leg that took a year to go away, all because i tried to zap his arm.
