SNES Emulator Running on a Cowon Q5W
Posted by Adam Frucci at 10:30 AM on March 11, 2008
This is a Cowon Q5W PMP that's been rigged to hook up to an original Playstation controller and running a SNES emulator. One the one hand, it's sweet to see SNES games being played on a PMP. On the other hand, this is a honking $550+ PMP, so you'd probably be pretty pissed if it didn't have the juice to do this. In any case, neat! I'll take SNES emulation anywhere and everywhere. Why isn't this on Kotaku yet???? SNES is awesome but not 550 dollars awesome when you can probably emulate it on psp already.

With the included tv-out cables you could play SNES on your tv too. Not a bad feature...

Wow, for $550 it better be able to. My cell phone (Blackjack II, $100 after rebates) can play SNES almost flawlessly.

@GizmoBub: why wouldn't you just plug your actual SNES into the tv?

I don't know about you but I got rid of my SNES many years ago. Certainly this isn't a reason to rush out and buy a Q5W but it's a nice added feature for those who have it already.

@GizmoBub: True, but if you wanted to play SNES games THAT badly, you probably wouldn't throw away the SNES in the first place.
Personally I think the gaming companies should allow all games to work on new systems. Imagine if you had to replace all your mp3s everytime you upgraded your music player! Yikes.
