Skype For Linux Goes 2.0, Gets Video Calling

Skype for Linux has just reached 2.0 status, bringing to it free video calling (interoperable with Mac and PC users) and other features that we've seen on other platforms already. Does it bring free video chats with a hot blonde called Tricia McMillan? We'd totally switch to Linux for that. [Skype]

I find Skype to be just as good as iChat in terms of video quality. Although I've never been able to get iChat video-chats to run at Mac keynote like quality.

Ive had the beta version of this for a while and it was extremely stable... but I guess official releases are nice too.

this is clearly a fake, hot blondes don't use linux... unless their danish, is this girl danish? mcmillan sounds irish, and irish blondes definitely don't use linux :p

Indeed - it sounds like a dig at Trillian (the IM client's) somewhat flaky/non-existent video chat, via the Hitchhiker's reference.
Just like Winamp used to have little digs at Sonique in their about box.
These crazy programmer kids and their software rivalries...

Tricia McMillan or "Trillian" is a main character in "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy". If craving conversation with her, might I suggest the old Infocom text adventure version of "The Guide". Probably as close as any of us are going to get! :)

Skype video is THE ONLY cross platform and easy to use video chat. I'm in favor open standards, but ease of use trumps here. Take it from someone who engineers video conferencing rooms. My mom set it up herself and calls me via video now!

That is pretty sweet. What would be really nice is if Adobe got their shnit together and made a linux compatible creative suite.

Skype is neat, but I love the HHGTTG reference. Just re-read that for the hundreth time. On to 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish'!
Pity my webcam doesn't work with Linux =/. Otherwise I might use Skype.
