Pixar's Wall•e New Full Trailer Blasts Us Into Space
Posted by Jesus Diaz at 7:38 AM on March 13, 2008
I have to confess that I wasn't sure about Pixar's upcoming Wall•e, the story of a robot who is left behind to clean Earth by a starbound human race. After seeing how amazingly mindblowtastic the full trailer is, it's now higher than the greatest drunk hero of all time in the must-watch list, although still below the man with the fedora and the whip. What do you think?

Wall*e reminds me a bit of Pixar's original "Luxo Jr." short film. You know, the whole concept of making machines look cute primarily by the way they move rather than physical appearance.

Even my years as a fetish-gear-wearing hardcore industrial-goth rock star cannot prevent me from getting all moist-eyed and succumbing totally to the sheer emotional strength of Pixar's offerings. When I first heard wall-e say his name, I got shivers down my spine and tears in my eyes. MUST. WATCH. MANY. TIMES!

This trailer was amazing, added a lot to what we know about the story, maybe too much?
I think it is time to stop looking for info on this one, don't want to spoil too much for my first viewing.

George Lucas must kick himself everyday for selling Pixar to Steve Jobs for a measly $10M, especially since JObs sold it to Disney for $7.6 Billion $20 years later. I think that a 76,000% increase?

Wall*E reminds me of Number 5 from "Short Circuit".
It's amazing what a different movie this trailer makes me imagine than the one I thought it would be from the shorter trailer shown with College Road Trip (forgive, but my daughter loves Raven-Symone). The final movie will probably be like neither of them.

Out of all the Pixar movies, Cars was the only one I didn't like. Apparently kids love it though.

Though I AM super-excited for this flick, I am a little sad that there will be humans and actual dialogue besides Wall-E saying his own name. From the first couple of trailers I had wondered if this was going to be some sort of ridiculous robot-only English-free masterpiece. Oh well, still gonna blow all my money seeing it in theaters multiple times.

I hope they stick with the robots not talking much. I've always felt that an almost silent or a silent protaganist would be absolute gold if done right. If any of you remember the abortion that was "dinasaurs" just imgaine if disney did that movie and they didnt talk, it would have been an absolute epic.

Thanks I thought I was the only one. Like all pixar films I'm sure this will be great but, it took a whole new direction in this trailer that miffed me a little bit. I wouldn't mind seeing more full length films like their dialog-free shorts which allows your imagination a little more freedom to run.

For peeps who don't know - all of the 'voices' of the robots are entirely artificial, and created by synthesizers.
Also, there is a secret website for this movie. [buynlarge.com]
They're the manufactures of Wall-E in the movie, and appear to be a benevolent super-company similar to Resident Evil's Umbrella Corporation.
My favorite part of the website is their Core Values, under "Our Company.' I've seen too many mission statements that sound just like it.

The lack of "dialogue" is a vital part to the story concept. In this world, the robots don't talk. So Pixar used mechanical sounds that the characters manipulated to create slightly more meaningful conversation.
The writer, Andrew Stanton said "I'm basically making R2-D2: The Movie"
John Lasseter - "..the art of animation is about what the character does, not what it says. It all depends on how you tell the story, whether it has a lot of dialogue or not"
My wife said the same thing about the "beeps" getting on her nerves. I think it will make more sense within the context of the movie, not just this short trailer.
Can't wait!
