First Look at the Asus Eee EP20 Desktop

Somehow the world managed to miss the Asus Eee EP20 desktop when it was unveiled at CeBIT, but nonetheless, the first images have resurfaced showing off the desktop Asus promised us back in November. Not much is known about the device other than it will feature the Linux OS—but the word on the street is that it will boast a Intel dual core processor at 1.87GHz, a 2.5″ hard disk instead of flash and a price tag that should hover around 200€, or roughly $300. @Bani-Banan: More like $909 at today's rates (for the low-end model, based upon SEK 5,495, which includes "moms"), but either way, that is a lot for a Mac mini.

This will replace my car PC. I currently have a old laptop under the seat and it suck because it can't be power on remotely, but this one can with a remote switch. Perfect size and hope it will be the same OS, would be perfet for my low-res VGA touchscreen.

Its totally within the realm of possibility and quite frankly it's pretty slim as is:
16.28"(L) x 6.89"(W) x 15.24"(H)
If they just get rid of that stupid pocket storage thing at the bottom and use 7200rpm 2.5" drives instead of 3.5" drives it can be really cut down in size.

I have bought a laptop for $300, so why should I get this? The laptop is more powerful and have a smaller form factor.

If it has/can have a graphics card, HTPC time.
And it said it's 24dB loud...my CPU fan alone is that loud. I'm down.

I'm guessing Intel integrated graphics? Otherwise looks like a nice little piece of kit. Too bad it will be mostly useless if it uses Intel's famous graphics solution.

I like it kind of. And for the real pc enthusiast for the guy who said this would be perfect for his car if you know how to switch a processor just buy a faster processor and put it in and sell that one on e-bay.
I wonder how much ram that pc has. They should've posted better stats and by the looks it doesnt have a graphics card because it needs a VGA converter.
Asus really didnt try on this one from the looks of it.
1.8ghz, no graphics card, God knows how little ram.
Nice case tho give them that much. I see this as a walmart hit.

if it has some decent ram, enough usb's (it looks like it has either 2 or 3, can't tell)for cotrollers touchscreen and audio out and xp drivers it is perfect for a project that I have been wanting to do which is to create an inexpensive rackmounted touchscreen pc that fits in a few rackmount spaces for live audio.
It looks like it would also be a perfect solution for a home entertainment pc

24dB would definetly be nice, especially at 200 dollars. Would be even better if it has a free PCI slot so you can stick in a cable receiver...
