well I spent the night in melbourne, australia out photographing the darkness of the hour, but ended up with a bunch of dazzling city shots.

We all aren’t in this together, i feel, for once, we are as ignorant as the US. It seems fear of the dark (& consequent potential public liability issues) stopped many buildings from participating.

This disgusts me.
Its one hour, which in the end will do sweet f.a. but more importantly raises awareness. I read some comments from the U.S, one saying that “everyone knows global warming is a scam” – You’ve got to be kidding me, get out of your country and see the evidence first hand.
Gizmodo this is low from you. Very low. You’ll be lucky if this article stops me from checking this site daily as I have been for a long time now. If that’s the way you think then you really need to step outside your gadgety little world. Shame on you.

My first thought was to jump right on in and abuse the shit out of an ignorant, self important fool.

Then I re-read it, and realised that it was sarcasm.

And they say it's the Americans that don't get it! Guess he turned the tables on you guys just then hey?

Earth Hour was great though by the way. Was hanging out with a few mates, and got some Beeswax & Palm Oil (Carbon Neutral) candles, and just enjoyed some board games and chatting :)

I know it is a symbolic event but considering our coal power stations can't just switch off for an hour, Earth Hour probably produced more CO2 emmissions than a normal night.

For example: Ikea had special "earth hour" candle packs which contained petro-chemical derived candles that were shipped from the other side of the world....
