Doctor Who Outed as Secret Ikea Shopper, as Tardis Brought to Set Flat-Packed
Posted by Addy Dugdale at 12:26 AM on March 5, 2008
Fans of the revivified British TV series Doctor Who are, apparently, reeling, after the shock discovery that the Tardis, the Time Lords' equivalent to a Toyota Prius, comes in a flatpack. "I expected the Tardis to beam down from some far-off galaxy," said one shocked onlooker, "but it looked more like some flatpack furniture when it was pulled off the lorry to be screwed together." Sonic screwdriver jokes below, please. [Times Online]

Hey, when I was seven years old, walking around in my home town in the UK with my Dad, we walk out of the bakery to find a Dalek coming down the street towards us!!
Scared the crap out of me!!!
Even though it did have a sink plunger as a deadly 'laser'.....

@marzak: of course the outer design is the same as a real police box - what would be the point otherwise?
There are still quite a few of those old police boxes dotted round the place, Edinburgh has quite a few including one that's been painted red and turned into a coffee stand.

It's like when I found out that the automatic doors on the original Enterprise were powered by two stage hands on the other side of the wall.

This person should go sit down and watch an "original" episode of Star Trek. I watched one last week and apparently what I thought was cool "High Tech" stuff when I was younger was only toggle switches and blinking lights. What's next, No Santa Clause?

But once the TARDIS is assembled, is it bigger on the inside?

So this person is pissed because their science fiction dreams have been shattered by the fact that the show's sets and props are actually sets and props.

Anybody who had watched The Graham Norton Show on the night that David Tennant was on would have known this, because David said as much in the interview. He also spoke about the need for stage hands to prop it up in some situations.
