Dell Latitude XT2 Specs Revealed
Posted by Adrian Covert at 4:31 AM on March 20, 2008
Preliminary specs and a product render for the Dell Latitude XT2 have been released, and appears the convertable tablet will include the Centrino 2 Montevina platform, an integrated optical drive and an eSATA port. The rest appears to be unchanged for the time being. Nothing shocking or revelatory, but the Latitude XT was a nice piece of tech, and I'm equally interested in the XT2. [Engadget]

Hey ParJoe - I haven't noticed any glare from the glossy screen but I haven't given it any thought either.
I generally open it up at conventions, airports, and whatnot and use the wireless and sometimes the built in webcam (sweet). The touchscreen is cool for web surfing or playing games when I'm bored (really, anyone who plays games that can be played without the keyboard will be remiss at not having a touchscreen on their laptop).
Honest truth though - I generally am within a foot or two from the monitor and tend to keep it facing me and haven't had a problem (I do keep the screen in bright mode whether or not plugged in as a preference, though, which may affect this statement).

@Don Tobin: OH MAN! I'm SOOO close to getting one of those Tx2000's! The price and specs are spot on.
My only concern is that glossy screen. How have you found the glare on it?

I changed my style of life by not buying the end-all be-all laptop recently and went for travel function over luxury and haven't regretted it. This Dell looks nice but I picked up a tx2000z from HP and love it.
Sure the screen isn't as big; but everything actually *works* from the touch screen to the fingerprint reader to the remarkably strong a/b/g/n built in wireless. The convertible touchscreen turns 23 hpm (heads per minute) regardless of the airport I'm in.
I gave up on Dell, they blew it both at work and my personal machines. IMO they're on the cusp of becoming the next Gateway. Not that I'm a huge fanboy of HP; my corporation switched recently from Dell to HP so I gave them a chance and haven't been let down.
Dude, you're not getting a Dell.

That well and good and all, but why don't the try delivering the multi-touch this thing was supposed to have?

Meh, it's still too pricey.

The gadgets lately are really boring. Making more tablet PC are in the right direction and making it smaller with either more affordable or more powerful.

@Don Tobin: Interesting. Thanks man. I'm an artist and I've been looking for a tablet for forever. It's nice to hear that you're not bothered by the glare!
