So, to compliment Levi’s Original line of mobiles, the jeans company is releasing a limited edition version called “Red Tab.” Only 100 of the suckers are available, and you can only buy them at chi chi Parisian boutique Colette. The phone has the same specs as its original release, including a 2-megapixel camera with flash, MP3 player with 64MB memory expandable to 2GB, stereo Bluetooth and a bunch of random Levi’s themes and wallpapers.
Sideshow Collectibles stopped just short of encasing Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker in fiberglass when they created these life-size C-3PO and R2-D2 collectibles. Due out later this year, the authentic figures are powered by lowly AA batteries and have working lights. They also make sounds from the movies and utter the characters’ classic catchphrases, like “beep” and “whistle” and “OVER HERE!” All this can be part of your private Star Wars collection for the galaxy-sized price tags of US$5,950 for C-3PO and US$5,450 for his smaller, quieter counterpart. Apparently, the It’s Time hack provides iPod classic users with a proper Leopard theme, complete with a usable dock and other added OS X inspired fun stuff, including a Front Row-esque Now Playing screen and Finder-styled progress bars. Waterbed manufacturer Akva wants to help you with your rhythm in the bedroom with the Akva Sound. The Sound comes with all the squishy goodness you’ve come to expect from a waterbed, but with the added bonus of being able to carry a tune. Using speakers located in a built-in base plate, Akva Sound can pump all sorts of crazy tunes into your body as you sleep, read or do whatever it is people do in a waterbed these days.
Alain Bernard of France broke a record last week when he swam the 100m freestyle in 47.60 seconds at the European Swimming Championships. After Vista’s release, Creative’s Audigy Sound Blaster series lost a lot of their in-built functionality. Developer, good-guy and all around hero, Daniel_K stepped up to the challenge, putting together his own drivers and asking for non-obligatory donations in recognition of his effort. Daniel_K’s drivers restored functionality, and added some extra features to boot. That’s great news, right? Apparently not; Creative is pissed.
The iPhone Dev Team has demonstrated that Apple will probably have a very difficult time patching the iPhone to thwart their efforts: not even 24 hours after the release of the latest update for the iPhone firmware 1.2.0 (or 2.0, as The Steve calls it,) they sent us this picture showing that they have pwned it again, getting it to work completely unlocked, and run all applications. As they told us: “Apple will not really be able to patch it this time.” Check the new Contacts application, which was in the Touch and seems to have been revealed in this latest revision. We brought you news about the Eee Desktop PC EP20 a little while back, but it looks like the chaps at Hot Hardware have managed to get hold of some shots of the final, production line models. Unfortunately, they aren’t willing to cite their source, but they are willing to say that the images “are indeed shots of an Asus Eee PC Desktop product that should be arriving to market some time in the next quarter or so.” From what we have previously seen, the EP20 isn’t quite as small as a Mac Mini, but we’re still liking the design. The bubbly pattern on the side of the white edition just makes us all fizzy with excitement. We can’t wait. [Hot Hardware]
