Batman Begins First HD DVD Movie Rereleased as Blu-ray?
10:03AM Jason Chen | Batman Begins will be released in Blu-ray in the US on July 8th, making it the first (or one of the first) movies we can recall being rereleased from HD DVD to the not dead format. The disc’ll come in a standard and special edition format that includes storyboards, a comic book and US$7.50 in movie credit towards Dark Knight, which hits US theatres on July 11th. To Warner: Good job picking a movie to flip. [Home Media Magazine via High Def Digest] More »

Weird Car LCD Display: Phone Number Swapping While Driving?
9:30AM Sean Fallon | Apparently, the Callme Prism is a phone-number-displaying LCD intended for those times you’re in your car, stuck in traffic or at a red light, and you see an attractive girl pull up beside you. The Callme makers seem to think girls are into complete strangers who run game on them by sticking a screen up against a window. And they think she would call your number and have sex with you in the backseat of your car at a highway truck stop or something? Yeah…OK. The device retails for around US$26. This is after news of Sony forking over for 1/3 of Sharp’s 10th generation LCD plant. You know someone at Sharp is having a good month. [Reuters] More »

Dell 2009W 20-Inch LCD Monitor
9:17AM Brian Lam | Dell’s got a new 20-inch monitor. It’s below our size-threshold for external displays here at Giz, but as Dell sells some of the best computer LCDs around, it’s worth noting that this screen has a 2000:1 contrast ratio, better than the 1000:1 in their 22-incher. More »

How to Get Back to Your Mac For Free
9:00AM Sean Fallon | Being able to access your Mac remotely from anywhere in the world would certainly be useful—but I’ll be dammed if I am going to fork over US$100 to the .Mac service for the privilege. Fortunately, cheapskates like myself don’t have to spend a dime on Back to Your Mac thanks to a simple how-to guide from our friends at Lifehacker. More »

First Look at the Asus Eee EP20 Desktop
8:40AM Sean Fallon | Somehow the world managed to miss the Asus Eee EP20 desktop when it was unveiled at CeBIT, but nonetheless, the first images have resurfaced showing off the desktop Asus promised us back in November. Not much is known about the device other than it will feature the Linux OS—but the word on the street is that it will boast a Intel dual core processor at 1.87GHz, a 2.5″ hard disk instead of flash and a price tag that should hover around 200€, or roughly $300. Additional pic after the break. More »

DA on Trial For Building Kick Arse Gaming Rig With State Funds
8:30AM Sean Fallon | A Rockwall County, Dallas district attorney named Ray Sumrow is being tried on charges of forgery, theft and records tampering relating to a computer he built as a backup server for his office. You see, this “backup server” he bought with state money was equipped with two hard drives, seven fans, high-end video and audio cards, WiFi and cables that glow under ultraviolet light (what, no flames paint job?). 10 Gadgets Fit For the Incredible Hulk
8:00AM Sean Fallon | With the new movie on its way to theatres, this seemed like the perfect time to look at some seriously Hulk-sized gadgets. Or, more specifically, everyday items that have been bigified way past the point of absurdity. I can almost hear the entire state of Texas flipping out. galleryPost('giantgadgets', 10, ''); More »

The Natural Radio Takes UIs to Strange and Stupid New Places
7:30AM Sean Fallon | Imagine, if you will, stripping a radio of all its buttons and dials and replacing them with a set of scales. Now imagine changing the station or frequency on this radio by placing rocks on specific areas of the scale. The more rocks you place, the higher the volume and so on. Yeah…it’s never gonna happen. The idea behind this Natural Radio concept is that you would have “organic control” over the radio, but I like my gadgets like I like my fruit—big and shiny. Organics just don’t cut it.
