Hauppauge’s New PMP, Named “Hauppage PMP,” is as Dull as it Sounds
11:41PM Gizmodo US Edition | Hauppage has taken the plunge and moved from making TV adapter cards to making TVs—OK, a personal media player that also has a digital TV tuner built in. It plays MP3 and WAVs and you can watch MPG, VOB and a bunch of AVI formats on its 3.5-inch, 320 x 240 pixel screen. Storage is handled by SD/MMC cards and the four-hour lithium battery means it’s good for at least a couple of movies during a flight. Measuring 4.7 x 3.1 x 0.8 inches, its unimaginative styling reminds us of generic ’80s electronics, but some people might like that. Announced at CeBIT, it will be available April for around US$230. Bike Cuffs Bring Security, Kinkiness, to Your Cycle
11:13PM Addy Dugdale | Made of hardened, laminated steel, and based on the design for police-issue manacles, the bike cuff is all kinds of wonderful. You can lock up to three bikes at the same time, and the ring is big enough to secure to signposts to deter would-be tea-leaves. The heat-treated lock is pick-proof and there’s a hardened pivot link, which means no busting your bike using leverage. There is, however, one downside to the cuffs: price. Expect to pay US$158.50 for them. [Firebox] More »

T303 Is Sony Ericsson’s Latest Petite Slider
10:05PM Jesus Diaz | The new Sony Ericsson T303 may not be the Xperia X1, but it looks like a tiny, simple slider phone that will fit in any pocket. Sony Ericsson says that it combines “premium finish and materials with a good feature-set to deliver style with substance,” which is probably their own stylish but insubstantial way of saying “hey, it’s made of black or chrome metal, it has a camera, Bluetooth and FM radio, a mirror glass display, and it works!” More »

iBird R/C Toy Looks Like Flapping Good Fun
9:55PM Gizmodo US Edition | The new iBird comes from the same makers as our favourite R/C microcopters, but this time takes a leaf from Mother Nature’s design book. Controlled with the same kind of infrared remote and charging system as the Picoo Z’s, the flapping wonder is supposed to look and fly like a real bird. Real, hey? I’d say really cybernetic, but what the heck: check out its “realistic flapping motion” in the video. More »

Anti-Bacterial, Superheated Steam Cleaner Resembles Bird, Cleans to OCD Standard
9:52PM Addy Dugdale | This 1200-watt anti-bacterial steam cleaner cleans anything, apparently. Toilets, engine parts of 50-year-old Ferraris, tile grouting—even dirty minds come away purer than a nun’s chuff* after a blast from this. Plug it in, fill the reservoir with water and anti-bacterial solution, wait three minutes and then spray away. The handheld model comes with 10 accessories (there’s also another model for giving floors and carpets the once-over) and costs US$100. [Herrington Catalog via Red Ferret] *I made that up. More »

R2-D2 PC Case Mod Warps Us Into Hyperspace
9:30PM Jesus Diaz | Our obsession with everyone’s (except Porkins’) favourite astromech is well known, but this R2-D2 case is probably the best designed PC ever on its own. In fact, it looks like the only thing that could replace a steampunked Mac mini on my watch. More pics after the jump.

Nokia to Support Microsoft Silverlight Web Video
8:19PM Haroon Malik | Nokia has committed to bring Microsoft Silverlight video services to its S60 devices. Further, Nokia will also add support for the video content to its S40-based handsets at later stages. Given the immense market penetration of Nokia’s Symbian- based mobiles, this partnering will have a large effect on mobile content support, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Adobe is feeling a little sick right now. PSP Spends Time in the Sun, Gets Bronze Skin
6:50PM Gizmodo US Edition | From late April, it looks like Sony’s PSP Lite will be getting a matte bronze skin colour as part of a new Value Pack. This pack will include a 32MB Memory Stick Duo and an AV cable along with the newly tanned PSP. Available for around US$200, the new pack is scheduled for release in Japan— we don’t know when or if it will hit this side of the Pacific. But you don’t want a third place colour, do you? Gold is the only way to go. [AV Watch] More »
