Livingstones Are Surrealistic Soft Rock Pillows
Posted by Jesus Diaz at 10:49 PM on February 1, 2008
The couple above are about to a) bounce on the soft surface of the Livingstones, pillows with the shape and colours of rocks, b) break six ribs, dislocate a hip, fracture several vertebrae and lose various teeth, c) get some business time, or d) all of the above. Jump and bounce for more pictures, including their whole catalogue of indoor and outdoor models.
The Livingstones come in sizes ranging from 15.5cm to 2 metres, all with the right, natural-looking proportions. I have to admit that I'm tempted to get a few for some casual quality time in the garden, and also that I'm partial to the rocking bed. [Livingstones]

It's probably a good idea to check the price before pronouncing it "practical".

Finally, an interesting, practical design concept.
That wasn't so hard now, was it, Gizmodo?

Is there a reason they use primarily kids for their models? Maybe the rocks look more effective as furniture with persons of smaller stature.
That's right... LITTLE PEOPLE

They'll probably get sued in the US after some idiot kid has an encounter with a real rock after playing with these!

@CircusSeal:
i couldnt' figure out how much they cost. though i did figure out they name their products like Ikea. I'm not sure 'carla' is a good name for a rock. it should be more like 'rockula' or 'pebbles' or 'stonehands'.

"and then you go to lay out the rock pillows, that's not part of it, but it's still very important. IT'S BUSINESS, IT'S BUSINESS TIME!"

It's all fun and games until someone does a face plant into a real rock mistakenly thinking that it was a pillow!

Obviously the answer can't be "C" because he is not wearing his business socks.

Let the kids get accustomed to this for a while, then replace them with actual stones. The kids leap into the pile of "pillows", and laughs are had all around.

how practical isn't this? Expensive, and who has the space to take up a whole room to fill up with faux rocks? I mean it looks cool, like you could just plop down and take a nice nap, but anyone over the age of 12 knows that just wont happen. Anybody else will realize they are going to be incredibly uncomfortable, even though they look all comfy. Just like a bean bag chair.

I don't think it can be C, neither of them are wearing thir socks, you can't have business without business socks.

wow these are both cool and innovating but also amazing and stylish. i'd buy a bunch for the corner of my living room, except theyre probably never gonna be mass-produced

This is really cool, but I bet they're gonna cost way too much for what they are, just like bean bags.

I like the idea of these as pool furniture, or something for a minimalist porch.
It would seem a bit strange to keep these indoors, however.

So I found some pricing on these things. Not sure how much they've changed in price since May 2006 when this was taken from.
Gilda: 4850
Enza: 4500
Monica: 1605
Rosa: 1248
Carla: 963
Marc: 346
Christophe: 176
Xavier: 176
Jacques: 149
Hervé: 120
André: 104
Pierre: 89
Yann: 57
Edgar: 57
Those are all in Euros though, so adjust that to wherever you live. For example, the Gilda, which is 4850 is $7136 CAD/$7177 US. Not exactly cheap. That's for the massive indoor stone though, and I imagine the prices of this stuff has gone down a little bit in two years, and this was if you were ordering from them directly. They may be more or less in stores in the US/Canada.
