Give WiFi Leechers Computer Rage With Executable Command Fun
5:30PM Haroon Malik | WiFi leechers can be a real pain in the ass; they’d happily eat up your bandwidth even if you told them your life depended on it, which given our social existence, it pretty much does. The guys over at Ex Parrot have come up with a great plan to serve up some ice cold revenge to the culprits, which will have their browser displaying characters back-to-front, upside down or in an annoyingly blurred out fashion. You’ll have to run some commands to get your pay back, but the how to makes it a cinch. Let us know if you hear any sounds of outrage from the sponging neighbours. Heh, serves them right. Sleep Waking Dream Enacting Robot Will Get You Dumped, Fired, Arrested, Punched in the Wiener
4:30PM Haroon Malik | Fernando Orellana and Brendan Burns have teamed up on a neat project, which involves a robot logging and re-enacting dreams of a human subject. Brainwave patterns and eye movements during dozing will be monitored, depending on what is logged, the robot will alter its behavior accordingly. Sure, this is not dream enactment proper, but it is as close as we are going to get in the not too distant future. The robot, dubbed Sleep Waking, will function in two main ways. Jump for the video. Chute Smartphone Concept Puts Wood in Your Pant Pockets
2:30PM Haroon Malik | The Chute Smartphone concept is a vision of the future, a future where mobile phones are made of Bamboo, where they have names like Chute and where pot is not outlawed renewable sources of energy have finally reached ubiquity. The details on the gadget that lies beneath the woody exterior is not mentioned beyond it being functional and powerful, but what more could we ask for in a smartphone? The unique feature is the Bamboo casing, which actually has some benefits over plastic, including its stronger build, lighter weight and far more environmentally friendly production. Bamboo is also completely biodegradable, which means the Lion King could explains its life in epic fashion to a cub lion. We love The Lion King. We love the Chute Smartphone concept. [Yanko] More »

Panasonic AG-HMC150 Shoots on SDHC
1:30PM Gizmodo US Edition | After nearly six years, Panasonic is finally releasing a true HD successor to the popular but aging AG-DVX100. The US$6000 AG-HMC150 shares triple CCDs, optical image stabilisation, and audio capability with the DVX100, but adds a variety of HD formats including 1080/60i, 1080/30p, and 1080/24p. Panasonic has confirmed a basic 13Mbps recording mode but hasn’t given a firm number for the “enhanced mode” for “higher-level use.” Hopefully it will be closer to the AVCHD maximum 24Mbps and show what the format is really capable of. It’ll use the same SDHC cards you’d use in a basic point-and-shoot. Jump for the press release. More »

PDA/Tablet Concept Babysits Old People
12:00PM Adrian Covert | Hey, old people have technological needs too. Or so this concept would have us believe. The idea behind this tablet/pda-ish device is that it uses RFID tracking technology to remind the elderly when to take their meds, when food in the refrigerator goes bad, and what to get at the store to meet nutritional requirements. But if my grandparents’ foray into technology is any indication, this device would do nothing but baffle the elderly mind. [Yanko Design] More »
