Nokia N96 Hands-On: Basically a Video Oriented N95
11:52PM Brian Lam | The N95 smartphone just does fine with its video playback. But the N96’s 16GB of internal memory, slightly bigger 2.8-inch screen, DVB TV tuner, special video browsing UI and kickstand make it better than its pappy. More »

Hands-On Samsung’s F480 Prada Phone Knockoff (Verdict: I’ll Pass)
11:37PM Brian Lam | Samsung’s F700 and F300 are joined by the F480, a pretty clear knockoff of the LG Prada (down to the fake leather case). I find its touchscreen implementation rough, even if it’s improved from Samsung’s previous handsets. Overall, I’ll pass, especially at the proposed European price of 350 to 400 Euros (~$565 to $646) More »

A Different Samsung Portable, the Video Projector MBP-100
11:02PM Gizmodo US Edition | This week, Samsung has been dishing out a load of new mobiles, so the MBP-100 is a welcome change from all that. This little cigarette box-sized portable projector is a precursor to built-in micro-projectors in devices. The MBP-100 connects up to your phone or MP4 player and can throw any image up to a 20 inches for an impromptu wall show. No price info yet, but expect it to hit the Korean market first, some time next month. [Aving via Engadget]

Modu Transforming Mobile Phone System First Video Hands-On
10:30PM Jesus Diaz | After playing with the new Modu mobile system, I’m impressed about how well their idea works. The core module integrates very well with the jackets, even if some were not operative. It feels very much like Apple’s philosophy—allegedly one of Modu’s role models. Could this idea work in the consumer electronics jungle? After seeing it in action, Modu may have a chance. More »

Wowzers—Cheapest HDMI Cable We’ve Ever Seen Is $2
9:41PM Addy Dugdale | High-end cable fans, get your New Balances on and run! Run to the Amazon, because it’s flogging HDMI super high-resolution cable from DVI Gear for a measly $US2. Yep, you heard. Two. Bucks. Our tipster Jon put it thus: “Holy Crap 2 dollar 6 foot HDMI cables,” adding that the cheapest he’d ever seen was around seven times that amount. The closest competitor we could find via Google was OutletPC with a $4 version. UPDATE: Editorial Assistant Benny, the Artist formerly known as Bennytheintern, tells me that he bought some last summer for a bit more than a buck from the same place. Still a good deal, though. Overheard at MWC 2008: Executive Android Chit Chat
8:57PM Brian Lam | This sort of premature talk will either turn out to be unfounded fear or prescience (or neither!) but we overheard this whispering outside of hall 8: Android is Dead —One nameless, faceless, exec to another More »

LG Prada Phone Now Comes in Silver with New, Matching UI
8:07PM Addy Dugdale | It’s hard to believe that, just a year ago, the name of the phone on everyone’s lips was LG’s collaboration with Prada, the sexy touchscreen number that let its users believe that their fingers were fashion (or something). And now, post iPhone, what of the Prada phone? Well, a silver version is now available in Europe, complete with new UI (also silver, apparently) and matching silver accessories. It’s available in most of Europe, but don’t expect to see it Stateside anytime soon. A couple more pics after the jump. More »

LG Watch Phone Concept Brings Out the Dick Tracy in You
8:01PM Haroon Malik | LG has just unveiled a neat concept called the Watch Phone. It is pretty self explanatory, but if you are still in the dark; it’s a watch that has mobile capabilities. LG said basic functions such as SMS and calling could be carried out by utilising voice activated commands. Granted, you may feel a bit of an idiot dictating your SMS messages to your wrist watch, but if talking to a dual functioning timepiece was good enough for Dick Tracy, it sure is good enough for us. Unlock iPhone 1.1.3 with ZiPhone for Windows
7:36PM Haroon Malik | Here’s another unlocking iPhone 1.1.3 solution, this time in application form: according to its author, ZiPhone unlocks any version of the iPhone. You can download it now for Windows but we haven’t tried it yet so, like always, proceed with extreme caution. [Zibri's Blog] More »
