Toshiba G450 USB HSDPA Modem Doubles as Mobile
Toshiba's new G450 USB HSDPA is designed to primarily function as a USB HSDPA modem for data on-the-go, but in a surprise combo double-attack move it also doubles as a handy mobile phone. With its unconventional keypad and 96 x 36 pixel OLED display you're unlikely to want to use it as your main phone, but you never know, it may come in handy. It does give you tri-band EDGE/GSM, 2100 MHz HSDPA and 300 hours standby time, with 3 hours talk time and three colours for around $330 in Europe. [Unwiredview]

that is a novel concept... like alton brown of Good Eats says, dont get kitchen gadgets that only do one thing. i think it applies to all gadgets. get something that does more than one thing. (which is why i have the n95)

Does it have support under OSX? I've got to figure out something useful for that one USB port on the Macbook Air.

Cool spare, but the requirement of having to use a separate headset is a little disappointing. It looks about the size of the i-Mobile 310.

There's only one problem with this, that I can work out, which is that if you put a standard phone SIM card in it, you'll have to sell a kidney to pay the data charges and if you put the SIM in from a USB modem it won't do calls, they're data only.
Ok, yeah, it's progress in a manner of speaking but it's a product aimed at a market that doesn't exist and quite possibly will never exist.

I can't imaging trying to text on that thing though. I can barely manage when the alpha numeric keys are in the normal orientation (got a handset with a QWERTY for solvency), but when they're all round and shit, TFSU.
