Steampunk LEGO Steam Speeder Spurs Swooning Sensations
Posted by Jesus Diaz at 3:08 AM on January 25, 2008
The Steam Wars contest keeps exciting us with new concepts after amazing examples like the TIE Fighter and X-Wing, the Pod Racer and the Imperial Shuttle. Here's the Steam-Powered Speedy Bicycle, which promises to be "the Empire's Finest." In its simplicity, it's probably my favourite so far. Someone should get Lucas and LEGO to do a game with all these Steam Wars vehicles. Or better yet, a full movie. [Flickr via Brothers Brick]

are there any actual lego blocks in that whole package? When does it stop being lego and start being just a toy?

@sparechangepal: A lot of the pieces in there can easily be used to make other things.

Maybe its just me, but how can something "steampunk", be made out of plastic????????????????????
Premade, modular plastic at that.
This whole steampunk thing is getting old.
Legos are fun and all but hardly gadget news.

I don't think there is enough research into this "steam" phenom_ It hasn't been harnessed sufficiently enough and it could very well come back as another alternative for for a cheap replacement to Oil Dependency_

@parjoe: I would too. I'd first kill all of the fanboys so that you don't hear the nasal Chewbacca scream of the angry purists.

I would LOVE a SteamPunk Star Wars movie! I just don't think the general public would get it. Honestly, I don't know if I get it but I still think it's cool.

Steampunk fails as hard as the MacBook Air.
Yeah, I said it.

I can imagine an "Infinities"-style steam wars movie taking place thousands of years before the movies... an apocryphal but oh-so-wonderful look at the early days of the Jedi and the Republic.
