Leopard Boot Camp Gets 64-bit Windows Vista Support

Spendtastic dudes who splurged on the Eight Core Mac Pros revealed earlier this month have an extra surprise for them: 64-bit boot camp support. The Boot Camp install discs have 64-bit Vista drivers on board, meaning you can load up Microsoft's 2^6 bit OS with little to no problems on your silver cheese-grating behemoth. [Macrumors]

@mikegriffin: Hold down the option key after you turn on to select the Vista CD-ROM, and it'll boot up the CD.

@mikegriffin: Yes. Just put in the Vista CD and it'll boot up. The rest will be the same as you would do on the PC.

Can you remove Leopard and still run Vista?
That's the only way I would buy a mac.

I have Vista Ultimate installed on my Mini (monster), and it actually works better than any PC I have ever installed/used Vista on.

Oh, come on guys! Just think of how much more secure it will be! Cancel or allow? Think of all the DX10-only game(s) you can play! Cancel or allow?! And what about all of the sweet fading that the windows do when they open and close! Cancel or allow!!!! Shiny buttons! Cancel! Or! Allow! Vista is so awesome! Allow, no I mean Cancel! Cancel! Oh damn there goes my precious registry to all the pron site hackers.

@regnez: Yea, i noticed that too. I guess its because of the Apple made processor, and the Apple made hard drive and Apple made video processor.
Or maybe because its a Core 2 duo and they are fast no matter what.
Why do people still think that Apple versions of hardware are magically faster than equivalent PC hardware. It shocks me that your are so easily susceptible to PC World's and Apples bullshit.

Doesn't anyone else find it ridiculous that Apple advertises Boot Camp as a "feature" of the OS? It should be standard hardware support, since it really has nothing to do with OS X. I'm still pissed I had to pay for a Leopard upgrade (that I don't use) to get supported Windows drivers.

For the record, Apple does not make processors, video cards, or hard drives. And a hard drive (or its drivers) has very little to do with the performance/compatibility of an operating system.
Also, the mini I have is a (2.33ghz) Core Duo, not a Core 2 Duo.
I was just stating an opinion based on my experiences, and you had to go spout off your Wintel fanboy bullshit.
Maybe next time you could do us all a favor and keep your mouth shut.

OS X > Linux > XP > * > Vista.
I would much prefer to have sixty four bit XP support rather than Vista support.

I have just installed Vista Business 64-bit onto my Macbook, replacing Vista Ultimate 32-bit, and it works perfectly using the drivers from the new Mac Pro version of Boot Camp (torrent them!). I had to get the video card drivers off intel's website and it works flawlessly - no driver issues at all. I haven't done any benchmarks, but I can now play Portal without the frame rate dropping to an unplayable level when you, you know, fire a portal, which always happened with 32-bit Ultimate. Apparently source games benefit from 64-bit quite a lot. Also, all 4GB of ram can now be seen. I say it's worth a try.
