DRM Officially, Officially Dead: Sony Selling DRM-Free MP3s On Amazon

9:50AM January 12, 2008 | Gizmodo US Edition

drmdeathwatch2.gifOnly a week after learning that Sony was finalising plans to to ditch DRM, it has been confirmed that Amazon is now offering songs from Sony BMG Music Entertainment without copy-protection technology. That eliminates the last major label holdout and firmly establishes Amazon as the first retailer to offer DRM-free MP3s from all four major music labels. Definitely not good news for Apple and iTunes. [Reuters via Boing Boing Gadgets]
