Screens
Cheapest 132-inch TV In the World
Posted by Mark Wilson at 6:30 AM on January 10, 2008
Stand aside, Panasonic. We've heard about your 150-inch TV, and we have no interest in its six-figure pricetag. Meanwhile, we found a display by Lancer that's almost as big, for only 1/10 the price ($US15,500).
Sure, this LED display is intended for commercial purposes, like basketball stadiums and Times Square, but that just makes the display all the more enticing. While the resolution isn't optimised for close viewing, the brightness of the LEDs will probably permanently blind you after half a season of 24 anyway.

You know... I might prefer something viewable at that size.

That is, assuming you haven't already gouged your own eyes out after having watched any part of any episode of 24 after Season 3.

It's an LED screen, not a plasma and not an LCD or OLED, so of course it looks like crap close up. The article even states is not for close-up viewing, but for stadiums and outdoor signs like at Times Square. At a distance of 50+ feet it might look good, but who ever heard of Lancer? I am sure Daktronics and Barco are not worried.

Kind of looks terrible. What's the tech? & spec?
I bet it ghosts like crazy.
I think it would look nice hanging over the living room at the top of a very high ceiling. Watch the movies lying on your back.

There's got to be 101 uses for a home based Jumbotron. Seriously, this is for billboard owners or other outdoor uses. There's no way that would look right indoors or at less than 50ft.

@citizen024:
Valid point..........
Maybe no one in America wants to take the time to wire/mount a projector and screen (my wall personally isnt "white" enough to make a decent screen). *Just a theory* Or it could be just a matter of everyone trying to keep up with the Jones's. They all seem to be bothered by ambiant light that is in the room that the projector is in. A close friend has a nice Canon HD projector and he ended up having to hang black curtains to get the full effect.
