Stephen Fry Reviews Oral B Professional Care Triumph, Loves It

Some of us may dabble in being funny to go along with our tech knowledge, but professional comedian Stephen Fry actually knows a thing about both fields. Today he reviews the Oral-B Professional Care Triumph, which has a special tech that allows it to wirelessly show how long you've been brushing each corner of your mouth and rate it according to what dentists recommend. He loves it. He also loves the idea of turning something mundane into something exciting via technology, and wants it to go further.
He says:
I want a treadmill that presents on screen a reality game that interacts with your exercise: an adventure in which you chase villains, rescue damsels or solve puzzles - this is where technology should be headed so far as humdrum chores are concerned. Come on, you eccentric British software geniuses and game designers. Help me to a brilliant white smile and slim fitness the fun way.YES! Someone make a Running Hero game for Xbox 360 right now, complete with $300 treadmill attachment. We'd totally buy that if we could simulate running on screen, as opposed to the treadmill workout we do now where we just stare into the nearby lake and wished we were drowning instead. [Stephen Fry]

@novacthall: He said "a thing or two about tech, comedy, and teeth", which I translate as knowing one or at the best two 'things' split not necessarily equally between the three topics mentioned. My money says these things are comedy and quite possibly tech.

@nutbastard: I'm confused. Do the English know one thing about their two teeth (collectively?) or one or perhaps as many as but not to exceed two things about teeth, in general, that they may or (most likely) may not possess?

I don't think that picture of Fry really helps prove his point as to how good he thinks the toothbrush is (*coughyellowteethcough*)
I wouldn't want to spend that kind of money on a tooth brush that will tell me how shitty of a job I'm doing. If I want to know the dentist recommended length of brushing for each section of my mouth, I'll save some money, buy a normal tooth brush, and just read on the internet for what dental hygienists have to say. Or better yet, go to a dentist for a checkup now and then. Screw you digital toothbrush!

Exactly what we need..... a wireless monitor for our toothbrushes.... Great... Awesome, another reason to spent 150$ on a toothbrush.... ARE YOU SERIOUS! DO you know how to count Stephen? Becuase counting would be a great alternative.
When i saw the commercial for this i laughed for a good 5 minutes... Yet another amazing invention from the good old US of A

I swear by the disposable OralB Pulsar. Those little flossaction bristles get in between teeth, and I can't imagine a better overall toothbrush. The only downside is that it runs on AAA batteries.

hey i got that thing for christmas. i haven't tried it out yet though.
and i also wonder why there isn't a treadmill-based game yet. i've thought about making one, but i'm not big on video games. but if there are no cute girls at the gym, then a game would be 2nd best to staring at the heartrate chart on the wall.

OK, completely and TOTALLY Off-topic here, but has anyone else noticed stories disappearing? First the backwards singing guy, then the spray-off suit... Strange bit was that I commented on both of those, then the DISAPPEARED. Am I the grim reaper of threads today?

About 10 or so years ago, I used to go t a gym that had exercise bikes with biking video games on them. Nothing too fancy, but just interesting enough to make the time go by a little quicker. I would have thought this kind of thing would have advanced since then.

I should've bought the one I saw it for $75 on Ebay a few months ago when no one cared about it. Now with his endorsement, the demand will probably go up. :P
I still wish someone would do a shoot-out between Oral B and Sonicare's flagship toothbrushes.

Well Jason, I don't know if that helps you, but personally, I think you're funnier than Stephen. And you know more about tech.
