Get Your Own Terminator
Posted by Mark Wilson at 2:42 AM on December 14, 2007
What do you get for the man who has everything this Christmas? Well does he have a Terminator? No, we didn't ask if he had HD DVD. Does he have a Terminator? Yeah, that's what we thought. Well, if you're sincere about getting the man who "has everything" something he doesn't have, then maybe you should pick this one up.From Terminator 2, this chrome-plated T-800 endoskeleton can be yours if you win an auction going on today and tomorrow at the Profiles in History auction house in Calabasas, California. While chrome is nowhere near as advanced a technology as the T1000's liquid metal, this endoskeleton is still expected to fetch somewhere near $US100,000—probably because it was featured in the opening credits of Terminator 2.
If you prefer your Terminators with flesh, a skinned model from Terminator 3 will also be up for auction. It's expected to bring in slightly less money, somewhere between $US60,000 and $US80,000.
But hey, some of the proceeds go to charity. So you'd basically have to be a total tool not to pick up at least one Terminator today. [luxurylaunches]

That's all well well and good but here's something really interesting: the T-1000 from T2? He's cutting my grass as I write this. I just called him my b*tch.
Funny thing is when I picked him up, my girlfriend told me he had to be a fake since the real T-1000 was destroyed in a vat of molten steel. I said don't be ridiculous.
BTW, I know, I know, the story with my girlfriend was a lie. There is no way I could have had a girlfriend back then.

@ultim8fury: I've got a line on some Cyberdyne processor chips. These made it out before the factory went up. We plan to use them in our Reapers for the SkyNet IR&D.

@huygir: If I got it for free I would end my quest of trying to get 8 dollars and 2 hours back for being tricked into watching T3.

@ultim8fury: You should join us over at the T-800 user forums.
This one guy found a hack where the thing will actually sit down and play Doom with you on your PC, it's awesome.
-and don't get me started with Linux...

The problem is finding spare parts .
My T-800 was involved in a small industrial accident whilst filming a documentary back in the 80s. I have been trying for years to get bits to repair it. I stopped by Cyberdyne but all they had in stock was an arm and they quoted 4 weeks delivery. So I went the next week to collect it instead. Wouldn't you know it the bloody factory blew up.
So if anyone knows of a good place I can source parts please contact me.

@theimmc: Hear, hear!
Seriously, what would you use a skeletal terminator for anyway (scaring kids at halloween maybe)?
But the possibilities (after re-programming of course) with the newer models are very "intriguing".

How about the Summer Glau / Cameron terminator in Sarah Connor Chronicles?

The problem is you can't give the T-800s away since the T-1000s came out.

I think I'll take the chick from T3, sans the endoskeleton and mimetic poly-alloy of course.

That would make a great lobby sculpture for a tech company. Also it would be a great addition to the bedroom closet or under the bed of a bratty little trust fund baby you're taking a lot of crap from.
