Coolness Roundup: Free Software, Clueless Clerks
Posted by Gizmodo US Edition at 4:00 AM on December 25, 2007
Charlie White and Stephen Schleicher present their definitive list of free software you can't live without—download them all and start using them today on this week's Coolness Roundup netcast. Then, get a hands-on evaluation of the good and bad points of the eStarling Wi-Fi digital picture frame, and hear Stephen's gleeful rant about retailers who don't know squat about the technology they're selling. So why can't they just list the products, instead of making us suffer through a ten minute pod cast?
Perhaps these guys just love to hear themselves talk!
If you love the sound of their voices, then by all means follow the link the show.
If, like me, you would have appreciated some sort of summary, read on. Note, BTW, that most of this stuff was already covered by Gizmodo.
The pod cast, spent over a 1/3 of it's time on the eStarling Digital Photo Frame Version 3.0 ($249.99)

The hosts invited you to e-mail pictures (800 x 600, USA only) to tempamatica@seeframe.com
They then spent some time ragging on stupid sales clerks who can't help ignorant consumers when you go shopping for tech toys.
They gave a link to another pod cast where they continue the rant here: www.device.com
Next, they discussed external hard drives in general, and the Western Digital MyBook eSata drive in particular.

Most people in retail stores could honestly care less about knowing more about the technology than what will make you buy it.
They're basically paid just enough to ring you up.
