8.5mm-Thick External HDD is Seriously Thin

Even though solid state flash drives are quickly coming to take over for regular HDDs, there are still innovations to be had with our trust old platter drives. Take this Tomato D-18, for example, which is an external 60GB HDD that's a mere third of an inch thick, enclosure included. Coming in a slick little case and not requiring external power, this wee HDD looks more like a PMP than an external drive. It's available now for $120. [Product Page via PMP Today]

I wonder if the two button-ish things left of the Tomat logo are in fact buttons to do things, or if they're just to look neat and add texture.
Regardless, very slick looking, and the thinness is useful for those of us that like to keep our bags as small and light as possible.

I really love those semi-abstract ivy designs that have been appearing on gadgets in the 2000's. I don't know why, but I really do.
If only Apple would adopt that for their otherwise sleek and minimalistic designs.

Beautiful design and a slim package. Too bad it's not flash, but this is why it's 60GB and $100.
