Unique Mini Piano With Hidden CD Player
Posted by Sean Fallon at 10:20 AM on November 2, 2007
CDs may be headed towards obsolecence, but that doesn't seem to stop manufacturers from coming up with unique new devices to play them. One of these devices, the Japanese made Cathay PK-24, may look like a miniature grand piano, but the only thing it can play is tunes from your CD or FM radio. The keys even act as the playback controls to add to the fun. Available in Asia for about $165 a pop —which is way too freakin' much if you ask me. [Product Page via Technabob via Geekalerts]

See, if it could process /filter out the melody from the harmonies, and make the respective key depress, then it'd be cool.

It looks pretty sharp.
Who are they trying to pedal this too, stool pigeons?

can gizmodo implement a rule that it will no longer cover cd players? i mean, they really don't even count as gadgets any more. cds aren't old enough to have "neato" value and are basically worthless as a music medium.

@oldmanstan: Great, except not all music can be bought in file form.

@oldmanstan:
I think there's something to be said for taking the bad with the good.
This junk is cool to look at and read about and comment on, as long as I don't have to actually own it!
-and they probably have a filter for that here anyway!

Looks pretty cool, but I'd rather have a full size or baby grand piano.
