Throwzini's Knife Block Stores Cutlery on Wheel of Death
Posted by Charlie White at 12:17 AM on November 17, 2007
If you're not quite heartless enough for that Voodoo Knife Holder, the poor guy who gets continuously stabbed in five places with various knives (remember him? There he is on the lower right), here's a tricky alternative: Throwzini's Knife Block, which causes no apparent harm to the hapless red dude. Store the five included stainless steel knives in a tortured sort of peace, each mercifully missing the red guy, who's this time strapped onto a spinning Wheel of Death. Pricing wasn't announced yet, but expect it to show up soon on the Urban Trend website. [Urban Trend]

I'm never going to use the knives that come with something like this, sadly. They should have made it a steak-knife holder. Then it would actually be useful AND cool looking.

I have the Voodoo knife set (wife got it for me for X-Mas (gawd I love this woman!) and the knives actually do have a nice, sharp edge to them. In fact... I just cut myself on one this morning slicing a bagel. Ooops!

@gyffes: the thing is made of plastic but it is well designed. There are magnets on top to the knife holes that keep the knives from cutting up the holes. I've had mine for over a year and it still looks new.
I also have several expensive knives including a few $100+ Henkles and while they are better the included knives and easily worth the money. They come in green now and there is a chrome one too if you want more of a metal look.

I have the red guy and can highly suggest everyone got one. The knives are actually good but the art is great and the comments you get are priceless.
I would have designed this with the knives going through the hands, feet and chest though.

Cute, but the knives probably suck big time.

Lordy, I'd LOVE to have one of those voodoo guys.. well, 'cept for the above statement that it's cheaply made and the knives prolly bite and I doubt it'd hold my assortment of henckels and wustoffs that well and it only holds, what, 5 knives, anyway, and...
ok, it bites and I'm damned glad I don't have it. But what at TERRIFIC idea.

I got one of the Voodoo guys for my sister as a housewarming gift and I have to say, I was a little less than impressed with it. The build quality was less than ideal (it seemed to be made out of cheap plastic). The knives seemed sturdy enough, but I didn't actually do any cutting with them.

I think that this news violates my author rights, as I created and presented a very similar object two years about ago to Viceversa (the same company that manufactured for years my famous Voodoo knife block, now produced by CSB Commodities).
I proposed "Circus Circle knife block" to them two years ago, currently in the engineering phases for another company, and now I believe that this is a low and unfair move by someone at Viceversa who wants to steal this project too, as they did with other projects that I was forced to defend before a judge at a great expense.

I followed the development of what became "The Ex" for a couple of years before they actually brought it out - I had it preordered and the whole bit. It is indeed a pretty cheap product.
The knives are stainless pieces of crap that don't hold an edge. (Sure, stainless knives suck in general, but these are way worse than most) The block is indeed shiny plastic. You have to be very careful when replacing a knife not to nick the plastic and the strong magnets that hold the knives in place do not help this precision aiming.
It's not really their fault though; they were right to bring it out at the cheap $80 price point. The market of people who would have bought it if it were made of lacquered wood and fitted with a $750 set of cutlery is probably limited to me and several other folks. But I have to say, even though the only thing I ever really use out of it is the serrated knife to saw through fresh bread, it still sits up on my counter while the nice knives go in a case in the drawer.

I just discovered this new item by chance and I am completely taken aback.
This news violates my author rights, as I created and presented a very similar object two years about ago to Viceversa (the same company that manufactured for years my famous Voodoo knife block, now produced by CSB Commodities).
Since Viceversa never respected our agreements, I sued them and won a proceeding which was recognized worldwide (for the first time in the industrial design sector) and now they have even declared bankruptcy to avoid paying the damages ordered by the judge.
I proposed "Circus Circle knife block" to them two years ago, currently in the engineering phases for another company, and now I believe that this is a low and unfair move by someone at Viceversa who wants to steal this project too, as they did with other projects that I was forced to defend before a judge at a great expense.
