Why isn’t Sony listed with a 1.1 profile player? PS3 just updated to 1.1 in the last firmware… so that would be millions of Sony 1.1 profile players on the market… right?

Don’t forget that you can update the firmware of the Blu-Ray Players. The PS3 is an example.

in other words dont buy a blu ray yet but if you do buy a sonyps3
sounds like sonys way of screwing over there partners/competitors
and they expect us to buy this crap?

Would it also be possible to get some stats on players sold to date for each format with XBOX HD-DVD addon and PS/3 console figures seperate and a count of available titles for each format and a count of HD-DVD only and BluRay only titles?

That's a really top read.

And it outlines one of my biggest issues with BD really well.

I am surprised though, that companies are still NOT supporting the very latest spec properly, as it means that discs coming out in a year to 2 years time won't work on most players, and it won't be fixable. I don't really like that idea at all.

I really look forward to your follow up article The state of HD-DVD too.

It will be interesting to see a piece written as well as that on the competition without delving into a tit for tat game.
