As long as it sucks less than UIQ3. But then, a 20km extention cable for my landline phone with a calendar stapled to it would have sucked less than my old M600i.

OMG! It's a touch interface on a rectangular screen with buttons and everything! And don't they know transparency on a phone was Apple's idea first?!?

I've e-mailed you this story on October 16. Apparently, you never got it. The pictures are from Sony Ericsson & Motorola's press conference announcing the joint venture for UIQ. I am not sure who took this picture since a number of blogs posted shots of this slide. The left-most screen says "Draw your symbol to unlock" (which is a heart in this case). IntoMobile and AllAboutSymbian have better shots.

Competition is good. It will make the iPhone better too. The "differential advantage" of the iPhone family is at its maximum. The next big chance to make a huge difference is a vibrant developer's program. OSX is superior platform and so are the tools. The pixels will be copied, the core is much harder....

It just kind of amazes me that they don't even try to make it look all that visually distinct anymore. Sony has made interfaces that make me drool, so I know they're up to the challenge... but they just don't put forth the effort (or when they do, someone up high says "let's make it look more like Apple.") Even Microsoft is more original than this.
